WASHINGTON (CNN) A dozen House Republicans are targeted in a new House Democratic political campaign that criticizes the GOP lawmakers for opposing the $787 billion stimulus package.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will contact voters this week by telephone with a recorded message saying that their Republican congressman voted against the largest tax cut in history, and against a stimulus bill that the business friendly U.S. Chamber of Commerce supported.

The House Republicans targeted include:
Rep. Judy Biggert of Illinois
Rep. Ken Calvert of California
Rep. Michael Castle of Delaware
Rep. Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania
Rep. Jim Gerlach of Pennsylvania
Rep. Mark Kirk of Illinois
Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer of Missouri
Rep. Dan Lungren of California
Rep. Thad McCotter of Michigan
Rep. Adam Putnam of Florida
Rep. Dave Reichert of Washington
Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas
The people lit up their representative’s phones before the vote. The DCCC is having to spend money to get people to care enough to call in and bitch about the No vote.
Te list is backwards. Its the Democrats who voted for it that will targeted.
I didn’t catch the name but there was a radio commercial playing in Asheville, NC that was saying this exact message, complaining about some Republican that didn’t vote for the stimulus. The commercial doesn’t even make sense. The stimulus bill passed. What are they bitching about? I know the answer so I don’t need any simpleton explaining it to me.
Bahney wants to give the men on the list some stimulus.
There is an ad currently running here in Shuler’s district criticising him for voting against the stimulus and he’s a Dem. When I heard the phone # in the add to call and complain to the congressman for voting against the stimulus (twice) I immediately called and thanked him for his vote. I asked the staffer how the calls were going and she said they were all positive, meaning they support the congressman’s vote. Looks like the add campaign is backfiring at least in this case but I’m wondering who is sponsoring the adds against a Democrat.
More dishonest propaganda coming from the anti-American/socialist left. It’s a continuation of the lies and accusations made by The Kenyan during the campaign.
I’d say it is protected speech, but as discussed here on many other threads, Conservatives can win the war of ideas IF they fight back with facts.
the lies that will be disseminated in this particular phone campaign must be contested, even if it costs money to do so.
the congressman who are targeted MUST stand up to it and fight back with the truth of the matter, if they have any intention of winning the war of ideas.
Putman isn’t even running.

Was the add about Shuler? I’ve heard that one on 570 AM, the Asheville talk station but he’s a Dem.

I’m not sure. I didn’t catch the name and I’m not familiar with the local politicians. I was just visiting Ashville. It’s a beautiful city and a very nice area, but it is absolutely overrun with Obama propaganda. Looks like the Stalin worshipping from the Soviet days.

Wouldn’t have even known about it if I hadn’t been trolling DU. :-)

I go on DU all of the time, it’s something I encourage all “conservatives” to do. I also encourage “liberals” to spend more time on sites like this.
I live about 30 minutes from Asheville and the surrounding area is entirely different from the city of Asheville, so much so that Shuler had to vote against the stimulus because of his constituency which includes the city of Asheville. Don’t let your image of Asheville cloud your opinion of the area. We’re not all like that.
Oh I know. It’s a college town with a huge bunch of aging hippies. There is a ton of stuff to do there. The wife and I wouldn’t mind retiring there. I’d just have to bite my lip when it comes to politics. We were disappointed with the weather though. All that global warming sure made for a chilly weekend. We had better weather in Indiana than in Asheville, except for Saturday afternoon.
