That fact while true, is irrelevant. The paper is a business and the cost of providing the local coverage noted exceeds the revenue to purvey it.

They have, for many years been boring and predictable. We already know how and why a story might be written. We already know how the story will end. We know who the victim will be and we know who/what the villain will be. Journalists are rather incurious.

Young people don’t read newspapers. They look for entertainment. In general, their educational experience didn’t include critical-thinking, historical perspective, civic knowledge. And those who are somewhat interested have their commandments down. Left=good, care more, victim, global warming/climate change, coffee latte; right=bad, war, villain, guns, corporations/business, meat. Why bother with something they already know.

Anyway, the next generation is not going to read newspapers local or national. We are the last generation to bother with them and papers are losing what left of us. Too bad. Local papers once were the glue of the community.

Any newspaper that gets funding from the government will be just another leftist newsletter — there will be no difference in content than what we get now.
