A jury acquitted Blong Her Fang on Friday of four counts of attempted murder in connection with a shootout at a traditional Hmong wedding celebration at a house in Roseville in February 2008.
Fang, 24, cried as the clerk for Ramsey County District Judge John B. Van De North read the verdict, then Fang hugged his attorney, Barry Voss.
"I've always been innocent," Fang said outside the courtroom moments later. "I knew from the beginning I was just wrongly charged."
Family members of Yang Pao Vang, the homeowner and host, and Kevin Vang, his son, left the courtroom without commenting. Both men were wounded in the shootout.
Fang and his older brother, Tou Fang, were injured by gunfire that broke out in the house in the 1700 block of County Road C2 on Feb. 9, 2008.
A classmate of Tou Fang had invited him to the wedding. Blong Fang went along as the designated driver, he testified Wednesday.

Wow!
Fist fights, gun play, folks passed out drunk, all the ingredients one would expect at a wedding.
It’s a rich culture these people come from and certainly explains the advanced civilization they built in their homeland.
And now, it’s our good fortune to have them here, making their mark on our culture.

Then again, I'm not up on the immigration requirements involved in Hmong people coming here, but if are taking in those who helped us in the VN war, I'm willing to accept some of their cultural idiosyncrasies.
But not many Hmong among my neighbors.

I should also mention that I wish I had a name that sounded like someone falling down a flight of stairs. Or the sounds from a Batman fight.

Blong Her Fang sounds like what I hear coming from the neighbor kid’s sub woofers.

You got to see “Gran Torino”, the Clint Eastwood flick. All about the Hmongs in Detroit. And, BTW, a super good movie.
