Last evenings Fox News Watch included an homage to Sam Donaldson on the occasion of his retirement. Asked if there were reporters currently on the scene like Donaldson, panelist Jane Hall responded: we dont see a lot of them. Some people think Jake Tapper has been pretty aggressive.
Tapper, ABCs chief White House correspondent, has given recent evidence that he is among that rare breed of MSMer willing to report inconvenient facts about the Obama administration. As Jennifer Rubin at Commentarys Contentions blog has observed, it looks like Tapper is the only MSM outlet to have reported this story:
"Brian Wise, executive director of Military Families United, told ABC News that Over 5,000 military families from across the United States responded to an Action Alert from Military Families United about President Obamas first release of a terrorist from Guantanamo Bay [Binyam Mohamed]. The White House was inundated with calls from military families, veterans and others who voiced their outrage over President Obama releasing a purported enemy combatant."

Tapper aside, MSM buries story of military-family outrage over release of Gitmo terrorist. Ping to Today show list.
Someone must have pissed off Jake Tapper between November 4th and now, because his reports prior to the election were so affectionate he sounded like Obama’s lap dog.
Of course, the way the networks structure who they choose for White House correspondent for the next four years is dumb. They assign a reporter to each of the campaigns and the reporter assigned to the winning candidate (by chance), becomes White House correspondent. It’s kind of like being the model on Project Runway.
Jake Tapper is an excellent example of why this is a bad idea. It was in Jake’s best interest to show Obama in as positive a light as possible so he could get that plumb job. As a result, his dispatches from the trail were not objective journalism and he was rewarded for it. If that system weren’t in place, we might have had more truth and questions about Obama releasing his birth cetificate and other vital documents.
Jake Tapper did the nation a dis-service and now he aims to make up for it because he got what he wanted out of the deal? Baloney. If the networks chose the reporter who’s candidate got the least votes, they’d set up a system that was more valuable to the American People.
