The Toledo Blade has published an editorial with a laughable split personality. First the Blade assures its readers that fears about the possible return of the Fairness Doctrine is just some silly conspiracy theory being perpetrated by conservatives...and then the Blade itself calls for the return of the Fairness Doctrine:
TALK of a liberal conspiracy to "hush Rush" by resurrecting broadcasting's "Fairness Doctrine" is silly, little more than a straw man bashed about regularly by politically conservative pitchmen eager to sustain their lucrative audiences in the waning days of AM radio.
Whew! Thank you for that assurance, Toledo Blade. Since there are now so many Democrats such as Senator Tom Harkin and Congressman Maurice Hinchey calling for the return of the Fairness Doctrine, it is good to know the fear of its return is just a form of paranoia. Our minds are at ease. Or at least they will be until we read the very next paragraph of the Blade's editorial:
Still, there's nothing wrong with restoring the notion that a wide range of ideas ought to have a place on the nation's radio airwaves, which are, after all, publicly owned - not the private property of a handful of corporate broadcasters.

PING!
As I’ve said before, there’s nothing quite as idiotic as an idiot who thinks he’s a genius. Liberals prove this daily.
Too bad they’re now in charge of our country.
Every new generation has to get it’s face rubbed in a puddle of liberalism, it seems. Too bad for the rest of us, though.
Also, in the 50's Atlanta and Toledo had the same population. Atlanta has gone nuts and Toledo has been loosing jobs and population like crazy. Brian Wilson the afternoon drive guy has been pointing this out. Atlanta is now somehting like 4 times what Toledo is. It is what Toledo could have been with pro-business policies....
Let Canuckistan take care of its own problems and STFU!
Wouldn’t Rush just go to Sirius radio if they took him off the air? This is all so crazy since liberals already have all TV stations and newspapers and magazines!
Our Houston Talk radio, and we moved here from Los Angeles, where it was much the same....
We have Rush and Hannity, but we also have many local programs. Michael Berry, Randy Lemon, Mike Garfiled, Jim Dutton, Outlaw Dave, Chris Baker, Walton & Johnson, Loris, Delicious Mischief, etc.
We NEED these Houston radio stations to get up to the minute information during hurricane evactuation times!!!!!!!!!! The only way I could get ANY information about Lake Jackson TX during Hurricane Ike evacuation to Austin TX was by logging on to Houston talk radio! No one else had the information at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! Things like when will power be on, is it safe to return home, is there water, is it safe, is the sewer up and running yet.... Shut them down and we will have NO information during hurricane season.
It is bad enough that we can’t get television any more after a hurricane while power is still out, cable is out, internet is out.... We were able to hook our little TV into our gas generator and put rabbit ears on the TV and we were able to get some Houston TV news when we returned home. Power was out for a week and cable/internet out for a WHOLE MONTH. When they switch to digital transmission we will no longer be able to get TV news with rabbit ears.
If they take talk radio Houston this will leave millions without any information, news during hurricanes or any other disater that could knock power out.
This is the kind of thinking that is so prevalent in the leftist ganglion of semi-functioning neurons.
Rule #1: We know better
Rule #2: You’re an idiot. Consider yourself isolated and ridiculed as a sign of our superiority. You’re ridiculous because we ridicule you, therefore we are smarter.
Rule #3: It is so obvious that we know better that we need not refer to any identifiable instance of historical example. Should we find such an example, we will twist it, and distort the meanings of the words and/or events until it supports our position.
Rule #4: Capitalism is the enemy of mankind, Republicans are Satan’s spawn, and every problem in the world could be solved if only every group had their natural, organic self-esteem which has been trodden down into the dirt by evil Republicans.
Rule #5: Any of your so-called rights, including private property or free speech or association, are ours to do with as we see fit because we’re smarter than you.
Evidence yet again of the two absolute prerequisites of liberalism: utter hypocrisy and complete shamelessness.
I couldn’t agree with your post more. I hope we survive this particular iteration of the standard face rubbing. It appears to be massive in its scope, and fervent in the extent of the destruction it wishes for us. It is truly the enemy within.
Their fairness can only be achieved if there are equal listeners.
Why don’t they start with their own?
