Jane's: North Korea Could Test-Fire Missile By End Of Month

LONDON (AFP)--North Korea could be ready to test fire an intermediate range ballistic missile by the end of the month, the military analyst group Jane's said Friday.

Experts at Jane's Defence Weekly say that satellite images taken Wednesday indicated that Pyongyang was preparing to launch either a prototype Taepodong 2 missile or a Paektusan 2 space launch vehicle.

"There has been a significant increase in launch preparation activity at the Musudan-ni Launch Facility," said Jane's analyst Joseph Bermudez.

Bermudez said satellite images and other reports indicated that the activities included activation or installation of telemetry equipment and radars, the arrival of numerous trucks and support vehicles, a rise in activity at the engine test stand, and launch pad and umbilical tower maintenance.

The magazine also said support facilities for the engine test stand were being expanded.

It will probably go off course and land in the middle of Pyongyang. Considering that North Korean scientists are probably working with 1980s macs and are probably living on two bowls of a rice a day I doubt they can build a passable tank without buying it with South Korean aid money from Russia. Not conductive to research.

Janes is a reputable organization insofar as what they do and what they are known for, I have never heard of Janes doing what is ‘basically giving us all a warning’, which is what this sounds like to me. I think this is very very significant. I also know (and am relieved) that that every serious nations military knows that action must be taken. I implore China to put thier foot down, will they? I don’t know, but they need to realize who’s now running the show here in the US, and if they don’t do it, who will?

Same thing with Akmedenanutjob, between both Kim-I’m-ILL, and Akma-the-nut-job, the world can basically count the US out. (because war is Sooooo Baaaaaaad)

I pray that a coherent nation steps up to the plate, I’m confident all coherent nations know the stakes, and that they know the current US admin is only full of retoric, and even more full of themselves. Um.. Amen?

Taking on Iran is basically up to Israel. As for N. Korea, S. Korea and Japan would have to take care of it. China loves status quo in N. Korea.

I know where you are comming from, but unless China, Europe and others back up Isreals, SK, and Japans play, that is a recipie for WW3. China is the major player when it comes to Kim - and at this time, this late in the game, they need to seriously consider if doing nothing will hurt them in the long run.

The Middle East question is far more complex, but the same laws apply, if Isreal is forced to stand alone, I see nothing but bad happening.

I’m trying to be a ‘glass is half full’ kinda guy, because the alternative is WW3. I’m hopefull that world leaders will put pressure on rogue sates.

Obama might send a missile to shoot it down that, like Porkulus, is programmed to fail.

China is playing too cute. They value N. Korea more as a useful buffer than a toxic waste. They think if they force change to N. Korea, it will create unpredictability where risk is too high for them.

Remember China is the one which back genocidal Khmer Rouge for a long time because they want to check Viet Nam.

They will pay for this sorry mess. They have been pushing around everybody in the neighborhood to get along with their idea. Then turn around and say that since nobody objects, there is no reason China pushes its agenda. In the mean time, Chia Head got his hands in Chicom's balls, and twist them everytime Chicom hesitates.

I see neither U.S. or Europe making any hard decisions. Both were numbed by all bubbles of financial market. Now paralyzed to react the financial crisis which is way off their scale. We have petty leadership in U.S., EU, and China which won't give up their little gains, even if the world goes to hell basket.

These sorry a**es are about to be sucked into a mega economic implosion of their own creation. The foundation of their regimes would be shaken to the core.

Correction:

They value N. Korea more as a useful buffer than a toxic waste.

——>

Their value of N. Korea as a useful buffer trumps the risk of N. Korea as a toxic waste

I need to elaborate on my following comment:

which won't give up their little gains, even if the world goes to hell basket.

U.S.'s petty interests --> bailing out banks, tending to liberal constituencies, sticking to multicultural PC agenda

EU's petty interests --> the same as U.S. except that they have bigger economic crisis, it appears

China's petty interests --> urge to play overlord prematurely, ridiculous obsession with territorial expansion.
