DES MOINES, Iowa – Following publicized reports that the Army National Guard was planning a military training exercise on the streets of a rural Iowa town, the commanding officers have called off the mock "invasion."
The Guard had planned a four-day urban military operation in tiny Arcadia, Iowa, population 443, sending troops to take over the town and search door-to-door for a suspected weapons dealer.
The exercise was designed as a mock scenario to give soldiers the skills needed for deployment in an urban environment, and military officials stressed that only households that consented to be part of the drill would be searched.
"It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia," Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company, told Carroll's Daily Times Herald. "We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.
"We really want to get as much information out there as possible," Kots continued, "because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia."
Military spokesman Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, however, told WND that the operation has now been "scaled back" and no longer involves an "invasion" of Arcadia.

Yeah, I watched Glenn Beck on Fox yesterday too. That was really scary. I hope Fox keeps his show on the air. First time I've seen and heard things that all people should be tuning in to. Wife was watching it with me and after a few minutes said, “now I understand why you have been doing your survival things around here.” It never occurred to her that this country could get that bad. Now she fully understands.

“None of us Iowa freepers are particularly happy about it. We know it’s urban warfare training for overseas but we also know it could be used here for gun confiscation. Being we have a radical left Governor it makes people uneasy.”
It shouldn’t matter to an American citizen who is in charge.
This applies to the military independent of the those in power at any given time.
The founding fathers stated over and over that a standing, peace-time military is a threat to freedom. For the reasons I stated in earlier posts.
Not because of the men on the ground, but because of those that hold the leash of that giant of giants.
The military is a weapon.
It’s sole purpose is to strike fear in the hearts of our would-be attackers. If that isn’t enough then it is for laying them low.
IT HAS NO BUSINESS MINGLING WITH CIVILIANS WHATSOEVER.
The bromides can call people like me anti-military all they want.
In the case of military action in our cities and in our towns in the ABSENCE OF AN ENEMY, I AM ANTI-MILITARY!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Although I have been prepping for a few years, when Beck came back on the air here, the wife listened to his first show and said about the same thing... Holy Crap!
I asked her where she had been for the two years I had stocking "supplies" down stairs and cranking up the reloading press... ;-)

Beck has always been a “sensitive” type guy... but his calls on the last years collapses were right on and so far his calls on what could be, are progressing as he has called them!
Ya might wan to tune in for his show... especially the new “War Room” Scenarios.

That wouldve been my point...
My point was that this guy was qualifying his statement. There is a training facility right there in his State. There was no need, after all, to use a town.
All I'm wondering is...Why the attempt at deception?

I am enjoying the Beckster lately.
However, I think his presentation is too light in regard to what’s happening. I know somber doesn’t sell but the cartoonish graphics and the “mood” music ‘n all seem to diminish impact.
I mean, he is talking about a system of government that has resulted in the deaths of millions—coming soon to a household near you.
The delivery of a serious, serious message gets lost just as you enter hokeyville, if you know what I mean.

"
Now its...bury the guns...buy some fertilizer....DUUUUUDE!"
Who's stirring up all kinds of panic with hundreds of articles and speeches about the firearms market? That propaganda is sponsored. And who's talking about buying fertilizer in that sense? [No one.] If small groups of elitist idiots get the population too riled up, trouble will happen. There's no way to stop it, because ingenuity is not dead in the USA. ...only looks that way, after so much essential manufacturing was started by American corporations in antagonistic countries (antagonistic except for those gated resorts).
In some harsh scenarios (e.g., economic crash), national morality is the only way to prevent any truly popular insurrection. Study probes in civilian areas for a "suspected weapons dealer" will only cause more trouble, and the exercise described above this thread is not about urban warfare training. Sponsored BS through the media doesn't help, either. People see right through it while getting more angry and publicly silent.
Some Americans are stupid to be instituting more socialism. Other Americans are stupid to be cheating their own American neighbors and shunting them out of business competition. No overly centralized government of whatever kind is any good, whether it's communism, fascism, feudalism. Such forms of government are run by thieves, and they only provoke violence.
Manufactured scarcity
The profits of deindustrialisation
Now that's stupidity. I suspect that our business, academic and government leaders are becoming too interbred.
Lessons from Argentinas economic collapse
And that is not the kind of happy country that too many people believe it would be.
What we need is to be nice, all of us. Bosses don't need to be acting like 2-year-olds any more than their cheap American neighbors. No one owes anyone a living. That includes everyone--not just ditch diggers.

I agree, but you have a bunch of people tuning in that are scared of the "doom and gloom" so he's been trying to balance it with a little levity, but when he gets into groove with the "bad Scenarios" I just work the reloading press a little harder...;-)
You gotta admit though, he is pretty much the only main stream host even touching what is really going on!

Agreed. It just didn't happen in our country when I was a kid, either (little later). Even during the riots of the late 60's, no firearms were confiscated from law-abiding citizens in black neighborhoods, as far as I know. ...knew some of those folks who sat in their houses and businesses with loaded firearms for the purpose of guarding themselves and their property.

Yeah, he gets it, no doubt.
Thank you for your service, by the way.
Take care.
Gotta go...time to go earn 0bama’s paycheck, if you know what I mean.
