Report: Kennedy Might Not Return to Senate, Speculation Grows That Wife Vicki May Succeed Him
Ailing Sen. Ted Kennedy may not return to the Senate, and speculation is brewing that the veteran Democratic lawmaker is setting up his wife, Vicki, to succeed him, according to a report Friday in the Boston Herald.
The article quoted friends of the family who said the Massachusetts senator's brain cancer has worsened and that he is resting at an undisclosed location in Florida.
Anthony Coley, a Kennedy family spokesman, disputed the Herald's report, telling FOX News that Sen. Kennedy is not on his death bed and continues to recover in warmer climates when not traveling back to Washington for Senate business.
Coley added that the report that Vicki Kennedy is in line to succeed her husband couldn't be farther from the truth.
Kennedy, 76, returned to Capitol Hill recently to vote on President Obama's stimulus bill. On Inauguration Day, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital when he suffered a seizure at a reception for the new president.
The Herald said people close to Kennedy expect he may have only a few months to live.

Caligula appointed his favorite horse, Incitus (which Robert Graves translates as “sexually aroused”) to the Senate. At least he sent the entire horse.
I wonder who would win in a debate between Caroline Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne’s corpse? Hmmm...
Oh, but we have a POTUS that is dictating.
What next?
She is much younger, all business.
Another Clinton-Clinton working business relationship.
RE: Helen Thomas; Have "enjoyed" dinner w/her in DC at Mama Ayesa’s in DC a number of times during my Network days.
She is a mean, extremely anti-Semetic drunk who hates the entire Bush family. Her nose could sub for a landing arrestor wire hook on an F-14 Tomcat!
My first thought...not another f’ing Kennedy!
I thought succession in royalty was the first born son?
“Kind of hard to run for Senate for MA while a Congressman from RI.”
With the Kennedys’ all is possible, including getting away with murder.
I guess you don't know Massachusetts. When Romney was governor, the governor could appoint a replacement senator. That was until Kerry ran for president. The Democrat majority congress fearing a Republican appointment changed the law for a special election to take place. If governor Patrick has a pick that the Congress approves, expect the law to change back. It's safe, easy, and quick.
OH, MY EYES!!
Probably in a coma in a hospital bed in the Palm Springs manse.
The only other black guy living in Massachusetts? We need a rule around here about people posting while drinking.
OH, MY EYES AGAIN!!!
Twice in one thread is just TOO MUCH!
No sympathy for teddy.I’ve often wondered how someone like him can look at himself in the mirror.Or maybe he dosen’t care?
Too many local hacks want to move up the ladder. They’re not going to give Deval the pick unless the price is right. And there are too many to buy off.....
Will there be an autopsy on his nose when he goes?
Inquiring minds want to know.
