Ann Coulter vs. Joy Behar on 'Larry King Live': TKO Coulter?

Feb 20, 2009, 11:14 AM | by Ken Tucker

Categories: Television

Ann Coulter appeared on a Joy Behar-hosted edition of Larry King Live last night, and CNN kept superimposing the caption, "Ann Coulter Unleashed!" Boy, was the network, and Behar, just aching for Coulter to scorch up the airwaves. This is why Coulter gets invited on TV shows when she has a book to flog: she can be relied upon to say outrageous things, egged on by her hosts.

But last night, Behar was trying too hard. Quoting the conservative columnist Rich Lowry about some discussion point, Behar suddenly asked Coulter, "Did you ever date him?" Huh? Gee, kind of a sexist question, isn't that, Joy?

Trying to align Coulter with Rush Limbaugh, Behar said that Limbaugh wasn't a Republican but an "extreme right-winger" and that a lot of Limbaugh's listeners probably hated him. Coulter responded that when you have over 20 million listeners, you're not extreme but "dead down the center" when it comes to popularity.

She also asked Behar if, given the fact that Oprah Winfrey has an audience at least as big if not larger, would Behar say that a big chunk of Oprah's audience hates Oprah? Whatever you think of Coulter, this just makes pop-cultural sense. I always enjoy you on The View, Joy, but last night on Larry King, I'd have to say, you got served by Coulter.

Behar with the “everybody knows Clinton left a SURPLUS”...
yow, Ann should have come back stronger on that (she said “on paper”).
DO GO TO THIS OUTSTANDING SITE- FIRST one to come up on google search for “Clinton surplus” (now there’s a good sign):

http://www.craigsteiner.us/articles/16

The guy says flatly only “Clinton fanatics” maintain this “Urban Legend”!

Of course Ann does so well here. Behar has an aura of being flush with pride sitting in that chair such she comes back again and again with a smile of differing quality (usually snide). Each was obviously ready to go the distance. Its a very good debate, really. Of course AC wins by leaps and bounds.

Women in the 1950’s-early 60’s would have walked out of the theatre if that stuff they were slinging about sex in the middle of the thing was on a movie screen. Ann could have cut off the smarm. Debate for another time. supposedly she brings it up with the ‘press wanted to have sex with Obama’ quote, I think in the book.

Shouldn’t a “comedian” be funny every decade or so?? You could tell she never read Ann’s book. She got caught more than once in that lie. Was wondering when the cutman was going to come in? Ann Rox!

Pray for America, Our Troops and obama

Midler is a liberal hag too.

I also loved her in The Rose.

.................against the most inarticulate, uncharismatic, least intelligent "conservative" that Walters could find - Elizabeth.......................

So very wrong IMHO.

Also like how Joyless tells Ann she’s wrong when Ann gives specific facts yet Joy just says she’s wrong with out elaborating with anything factual on her part.

I've got a buddy like that. We'll have "discussions" about things, last time it was about taxes and who pays them. He claimed the rich didn't pay their share. I quoted statistics. He claimed they were from my right wing websites and lies. I told him they were IRS stats.

We went back and forth. Finally I listed where and how I got my information. I asked him how he knew his information? He yelled at me "BECAUSE I KNOW!"

Can't argue against that logic.

".................against the most inarticulate, uncharismatic, least intelligent "conservative" that Walters could find - Elizabeth....................... So very wrong IMHO."

To be fair, until very recently, I had never seen the View. From what I understand, Elizabeth joined the show a few years aga after a lengthy search by Barbara Walters and ABC. I didn't see the other candidates, but I find it very, very curious that the person they get to represent the conservative (although I don't find EH very conservative at all) is Elizabeth Hasselback.

Before the View, she apparently was a contestant on Survivor, hosted a fashion show on E! Network and graduated with a Design degree from a NE college. This is the best that ABC could find? Hardly. ABC and Barbara Walters purposely didn't hire a woman who had tremendous command of issues, history, political science and law - they hired a telegenic fashion designer.

Conservatives are so few and far between on TV, everyone that we get carries enormous weight (whether they deserve it or not). From what I've seen, EH continually fails to present a conservative counterpoint to her (overwhelmingly liberal) show colleagues in an intelligent, articulate, reasoned and compelling way. Time and time again, she fails to put together concise, well thought-out and impacting arguments and counter-arguments in an extemporaneous manner. If she was on the high-school debate team, she'd be the mascot.

Finally, I'm sure it this is by design by ABC and Walters. As an example, almost 25,000 woman graduate from law school every year. Statistically, at least 12,000 would be right of center and 8,000 would be conservative. The network can't find one, young, telegenic female attorney to bring the conservative "A" game every day on a daytime chat fest? Sure they could, they just don't want to. Instead, we're stuck with a bubble-headed, former game show contestant to do battle with 3 professional comedians and a doyenne of network television journalism.

Sorry do not agree. She represents much of middle America that we desperately need, to win the heart and minds of the voting public. And yes she is a conservative

Every word TRUE, and I don’t feel a BIT sorry for her. She’s had plenty of opportunities to leave the show and go elsewhere-but she won’t, because she gets
PAID VERY WELL to be a punching bag. Her choice, but that’s why I don’t, and won’t, ever feel a bit sorry for her.

Did that dimwit Behar even know her butt was missing before Ann handed it to her?

Ann absolutely cleaned Behar’s clck. Behar’s antagonism towards Ann was on full display from the outset yet AC held her ground and did not get rattled and in fact showed a remarkable sense of humor about the whole thing.

Exactly, Midler without the talent.

Behar’s interview hit bottom when it swung into the topic of conservative orgasms. This revealed that Behar is a low class schmuck without the intellect to explore the political significance of Ann Coulter’s book. Instead Behar sunk into a mode that I can only call bottom feeding. This is what liberals do when they are incapable of civil discourse. One wonders what swamp did Behar crawl out of?

Well, you know, they all look alike. Perhaps she could get a reinvigorated career as a Midler impersonator?

That's it in a nut shell.

And they are very rarely capable of reasoned discourse.

Joy Behar is a talentless nothing, chosen only for her leftist views and toilet mouth.

I always thought the bits about his Jewish/Catholic heritage were hilarious... entering the confessional; “Forgive me Father for I have sinned. I believe you know my lawyer, Mr. Wineblat.” Love it. That was very early in his stand-up “career”, though.

It might be easy for you to be generous. You're funnier than any standup comedian I've ever seen. I think your words are perfection.

Maher Schmaher...we've got Deb!

(I still laugh outloud when I think of "The Golf Channel," "The Grass Growing Channel" and "The Paint Drying Channel." I know there was one more but I just hit 50 and can't remember like I used to...)

Ha!

I was wondering why Larry wasn’t wearing his glasses in that clip, thanks for clearing that up.
