Nope. I don’t think threatening to call recalcitrant governors racist is going to squelch this movement.

The states question whether the U.S. government can force states to take actions without paying for them or impose conditions on states if they accept certain federal funding.

Like requiring states to raise the drinking age and lower the DUI standard or risk forfeiture of highway funds?

Interestingly, a few months ago I laughed at the post on FR about the Russian fellow who predicted the breakup of the USA in 2010 and now I’m seeing so many things that are making me wonder if he was really so far off the mark?

Unfortunately, our fairy-dust gov. in Florida (Charlene Crist) is BO’s mouth piece. (maybe bad choice of words.)

Worried the federal government is increasing its dominance over their affairs, several states are pursuing legislative action to assert their sovereignty under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution in hopes of warding off demands from Washington on how to spend money or enact policy.

States should have been "asserting their sovereignity" all along. It was just too easy to pass the buck to the fedgov.

Hey Great Warrior

I just wrote the Gov. of NC and asked if they were going to do anything like that. Just to let you know, and I will let you know if I hear anything. Out here S.Doc

Secede!

The United States of America was created by the people ... who rose up against their standing oppressive government, and shot the bastards.

This is the 800lb gorilla in the corner of the room that isn’t getting much attention.

Double up on your tin foil and follow me here for a second. In order for a socialist / marxist revolution to really work, you have to plug the leaks. Those leaks come in the form of that pesky ol’ constitution and it’s enumeration of federal powers.

So, instead of fighting that directly, I think the plan is to get every state beholden to the fed (more so than they already are), thereby gaining effective (if not codified) control over them.
