Is Vicki Kennedy ready to succeed? By Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa Friday, February 20, 2009 - Updated 1m ago

Sen. Ted Kennedy, wintering in an undisclosed location in Florida, may never return to the Senate, friends say, as his battle with brain cancer enters its final rounds.

“He’s someplace sunny, near the water, where he can rest and sail,” said a pal of the senior senator. “Time is of the essence. It’s very sad.”

No worries for Deval Patrick. That Senate seat was bought and paid for decades ago.

They could put a monkey in the spot and it wouldn’t make a difference. They’ll just vote for whatever Harry Reid tells them to vote for anyhow.

"Ted Down to Final Months"

Damn! The flag at the post office was at half-mast yesterday, and I was kind of hoping it was for Kennedy.

Prayers for the family. Also, in before the inevitable lock of this topic.

I agree. I never did like Ted, but I don’t wish death upon him.. Well except a few.. He will get his final judgment.

I hope the last thing he sees in his cancer addled mind before he sheds his mortal coil is Mary Jo pleading with him not to leave her.

The next best thing is for him to fall out of the sailboat unconcious and going to a watery grave.

Very sad? Wonder what Mary Jo's parents had to say when their daughter was taken away. Or how about the rape victims he sullied? Or all of the other detestable acts he has committed throughout his own long life?

Look, he's dying and that comes to all of us, the good and the bad. This process does not absolve him of his actions and, frankly, does not evoke any sympathy from me.

Succeed? The Kennedy’s sense of entitlement never ceases to amaze! So they aren’t going to bother with elections anymore in Mass.?

Does the author really mean “succeed” — or “secede”?

What about poor Caroline? Does she get left out in the cold again?

I wonder if old Teddy has contemplated how he is going to explain to St. Peter about his support of abortion - not to mention Mary Jo.

Sorry, not one iota of sympathy here.

She'd better hustle back to Massachusetts today and get started on her six months or however long the residency requirement is.

Mary Jo was too. She just didn't think time was of the essence.

Ah, may he live forever. He has no more need for a functioning brain than any other democrat senator.

It's so funny how the United States was founded upon a disdain of aristocracy, yet today, a Senate seat can be considered part of someone's estate.

I figured Caroline would succeed her uncle. Whatever her problems that kept her from taking the seat in New York would be overlooked in Massachusetts. She’s a Kennedy after all, and in Massachusetts, Kennedys are gods and can do no wrong. Especially the daughter of beloved JFK.
