Actually, what would be really cool is if 5m taxpayers showed up at designated post offices for each major metropolitan area and burned envelopes representing your tax return.

There are always news cameras there to show the people filing at the last minute.

Send your taxes early. Show up and make a show of it. Heck, someone could organize it so that each person burns theirs one at a time and as they do it, they hand over a paper with the totals for FICA, Medicare, income taxes, and state income taxes.

Get a running tally going on a grass roots website. The site would be geared toward *warning* the gov’t that these taxpayers are paying now, but intend to revolt soon.

If marketed properly, the numbers would be staggering.

You said it’s legal, not really legal in the truest sense. Legal to file an extension, not legal to “not pay.” And good luck arguing with your “friendly” IRS agent that you won’t pay the penalties/interest. I have some friends that tried that and their bank accounts were frozen.

I agree with you.  Something needs to happen.  We are only seeing small bits and pieces of what ZERO and company have in store for us.

I have never felt this way before.  Heck, I'm not even sure what I am feeling right now (at least not what I can say in public).

You are better off adjusting w-4 and quarterlies. For quarterlies, figure out what the lowest amount you can send is that doesn’t trigger punitive penalties. I’ve never paid more that 300 in penalties to keep my money in the bank.

That's exactly what we do. I only take out what is required by law, then pay in estimated every quarter in order to avoid penalties at the end of the year.

no one is quite sure what to do about it

That's exactly what they're counting on. Our "Community Organizer in Chief" has his troops all lined up and ready to hit the streets. We chumps are sitting back while they empty our pockets because we're not "organized".

Freepers seem to be pretty well dumping on this idea (though I wish they would read the post first).

So come up with something else. This won't change unless we can get a nationwide revolt going on. They don't care what we THINK...as long as we keep paying for their programs.

I, for one, would be willing to hold back money and face possible penalties. But if we organize we can use the same language the libs use. There was no transparency. This isn't what Obama ran on. Your spending our grandchildren's money. You're punishing those who "work hard and play by the rules". Blah blah blah. We'll find some good conservative lawyers to demand hearings on Capitol Hill, backed up by conservative senators (like mine, Jeff Sessions). I know it's a pipedream, but hey! That's how the libs get what they want!

Good advice, thank you.

I am a self-employed (1099) freelance contractor and always pay a bit more than I owe because I don't like end-of-the-year tax surprises.  You are right though.  I may have to talk with my tax person very soon.

I could not possibly agree with you more!

I've been saying this for at least 3 years, but didn't have the guts to post it. We would need AT LEAST 10 million taxpayers, if there are that many left, to commit to doing this and standing strong...together.

Some have suggested that a couple hundred would be singled out and made an example and the rest of the millions would fold like a cheap suits.

Everyone sits around moaning and complaining or asking the government for money. Do they not understand the only money the government has is what they steal from the responsible citizens at the point of a gun or borrow from foreign governments?

STARVE THE BEAST! -- YES WE CAN!

his is the reason so many of Obama’s picks have shown to have problems
with paying their taxes.

Just watch in disbelief as Harry Reid literally makes an idiot out of
himself!

And, he is the Democratic Leader in the US Senate!!

YOU MUST SEE THIS! (IT TAKES FOUR MINUTES) HE IS UNBELIEVABLE.

Is it legal to put 13.36 exemptions on the thing?

I’ve heard that you don’t want to go above 11 in any case.

But I figured mine out to something like 4.56 and added 5. I’ll put some money away to pay next April.

Actually, I get a refund this year so why would I want to do this?

Reading is your friend. Third line of the post:

If you have a refund due, go ahead and file...the earlier the better.

Well at least somebody’s paying attention!

Shesh. I’m glad our founding fathers and compatriots didn’t stand around and submit just because the Brit government might penalize them.

It took extreme courage and sacrifice to do what they did.

Does America still produce such men? We’ll see.

"Screw filing. There is no law that requires me to file. Just stop sending them the money."

There is a way to strangle the money flow without breaking IRS rules!

Change your W-4s to have as little as possible taken out of your check by increasing your dependents and checking mortgage deductions and other such choices on your W-4.

Most taxpayers send in more than they need to get money back at tax time. Reverse the process and send in as little as possible and put the extra cash you get in savings.

Let’s have 10,000,000 tax protesters show up in all of the state capitols on the same day, just like a massive anti-war march, but larger!

Excellent idea.

At the rate jobs and businesses are declining it won't be long before we won't need a 'Tea Party' as there will be few people earning enough money to collect taxes from.
