We must first establish a platform of conservative principles and make sure that all persons running as a conservative are held accountable to these principles no matter what the political necessities might be. (Tolerating a RINO to maintain a certain number of seats, just will not happen.)
This platform should be Pro-Life (either No Abortions or make Abortion a States Rights 10th Amendment issue), Pro-Bill of Rights rather than just picking one or the other of the first 9 Amendments while articulating the view that the Bill of Rights does not say what citizens CAN do, but rather that they say WHAT THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT DO. The Federal Government either be required to use a surplus budget until the national debt is paid off or a balanced budget forever. We must emphasize that taxes should be the lowest possible amount for each citizen. Every branch of government should be reduced in size by at least 30% to start, with additional targeted cuts immediately thereafter until each branch of government has reduced the number of civilian employees by 50%. This includes removing permanently the Department of Education, and potentially others if warranted.
We need to organize letter writing campaigns to newspapers, elected officials and the GOP leadership at every level emphasizing our principles and that we will support only those candidates who are proven conservatives, throwing anyone who waivers from conservatism out of office. We want to have a presence at all public events that are available to us to get our conservative message out.
Keeping an eye on the future, conservatives need to establish a relationship with every Young Republican or Young Libertarian groups at as many colleges and universities as possible. In this way we can groom the next generation of conservative leaders.
Each of us needs to talk to the people in our own neighborhoods, towns or cities and show them what conservative principles are and why conservatism are the best alternative to socialism.

As for Conservative principles, I think there are many group’s platforms we can align with, I think for a FReePAC, we should find a niche platform, what will WE do, what makes our purpose unique.
Specific ideas?
Just thinking out loud. What would set us apart from other groups like the RLC, Heritage, etc? There are a lot of groups that have a good, defined Conservative platform, but our group’s platform should describe our purpose, what we do.

I agree. I also think it’s time to put the government back into the hands of “we the people” by running for those seats. Toss out the RINOS and replace them with real conservatives.
There is the rub, difficulty in clearly defining ourselves as separate from the other outstanding conservative groups.
Considering how wide-spread we are, what about focusing on a bottom-up approach, supporting city and State candidates?
That is why the Young Republicans/Libertarian groups on college campuses across the country are so vital. They are the leaders of tomorrow. In the meantime we support only candidates with a proven 100% conservative track record. No hiccups or potholes in the road allowed as it were.
That would be crucial to this effort. The political effort must be fought at local, state, and federal levels simultaneously.
1. No One Is Conservative Enough;
2. Q: What is a conservative's definition of "conservative"?
A: "Whatever it is, it sure as hell ain't YOU!!!"
Remember those two things, and you'll not be disappointed when you lose every race.
There are limits to what can be tolerated. What good does it do to elect a Republican or anyone else who professes to be a conservative but votes 40% of the time with the liberals? Has the conservative agenda gained anything? I would argue that it has not. If you doubt this, look at the past 20 to 30 years. What have we to show for placating the Left in this country? Absolutely nothing.
Are you that desperate to win an election or any election for that matter? Please advise.
Are you just busting my chops or what Old Sarge?
It's 1776, 1861, 1929, and possibly 1941 (with a dash of 1984?) all rolled into one.
Tune in to Glenn Beck's show tomorrow on FNC.
It's what's for dinner.
Sarge is very grounded in reality and knows that based on all the standards you read here, there is no such thing as a ‘true conservative’.
Take for example, your original concept of the abortion issue, either banning or giving it back to the States via the tenth amendment. There are factions here that believe that either way (the opposite of what they believe) is not a conservative position. The federalists only will say it isn’t the federal government’s business. The strong pro-lifers will say that giving it to the States doesn’t stop it. (I believe in hitting it from every angle personally). Both of those sides will swear up and down the other side are RINO liberals.
From what I hear Beck’s show tomorrow night is going to be futuristic in nature. Showing what the US will be like in 2014.
I only want the abortion issue settled in a constitutional fashion once and for all rather than letting federal judges decide that issue. Either way it goes is a decision I can live with.
We have tried the Democrat-lite position in each of the last two elections. How well did they work out? If conservatism is to be a viable political force it must have parity in numbers (at least) in elective offices as the Left.
I do not believe in appeasing this group or that group just have a politically viable coalition. What is needed is principled leadership.
Then what is the new way to accomplish political goals? And please, do not say consensus
What yesterday might have been considered “futuristic” the following day becomes reality. Compare 2/19/08 to 2/19/09...
Steele, our RNC leader is “pro-gun control”.
We need to remove him from office.
