TAMPA - The University of South Florida associate vice president who resigned Tuesday over his role in taking a student's bicycle will receive a $50,000 settlement from the university.

In another report, an university spokesperson said that the contract had no 'morals clause' so this was the only way to get rid of this 'professor'! I have no words other than I trust that all future contracts will contain such, but I have my doubts!

I wonder how much he’d have gotten if he stole a car.

Give the baby his bottle. $50K is nothing compared to the $400K they were paying this moron every year.
Oh, and good luck trying to land another big-time job, Mr. Rao.

Steal a bike, get a 50K$ pay out.
Take out a loan for a house you cannot afford, get a government bailout.
Skip out on taxes that you clearly owe, become Secretary of the Treasury.
I’m guessing there is an algorithm behind this data but cannot figure out what it is yet.

Oh, and good luck trying to land another big-time job, Mr. Rao.Some lefty madrassa should snap him up, as he did in person what Bill Ayers and Ward Churchill (etc) will only stir up others to do.

If I’m the bike owner, I would now sue the University for $50,001.

I hope the bike owner doesn’t get sued for providing a temptation.

.....nothing compared to the $400K they were paying this moron every year.Unfortunately they will hire a new avant-garde intelligentsia who will probably make even more than $400K.

The university agrees not to pursue any disciplinary actions that could result from its investigation of the events involving the bicycle. Then I hope the police will. All contracts such as this should be null and void upon determination of a crime. With or without "morals" clauses. Sheesh.

Let me see if I got this straight. He makes $384,000 a year. He wanted to help this poor, homeless guy. So, instead of buying the guy a used bike for twenty five bucks, which he can afford about a million times over, he steals someone elses?

The official, Abdul Rao, received $384,000 a year in his position The fact he was paid that much money is far more disturbing than that fact he stole a bike.
No wonder higher education is so expensive

WTF!!! Caught red handed, on video tape, and he has the nerve to threaten to sue the school. And the school is so full of wimps, perverts and fools that they give him a $50K payoff. This country is more screwed up than I imagined.
