CORAL SPRINGS - Change comes slowly in some places.
In Coral Springs, the commission won't be so quick to force new and newly-remodeled restaurants to install baby changing stations in restrooms but the idea is still on the table.
Vice Mayor Vice Boccard was hoping the City Commission would pass the "diaper-changing accommodations" law Tuesday night, but his colleagues balked after complaints from the city's Chamber of Commerce.
"Now is not the time to add costs to a business," said Chamber spokesman Bruce Weinberg. He said the tables could cost hundreds of dollars and there would be additional expenses for construction. "We need to attract businesses into our community."
Last fall, Vice Mayor Vince Boccard suggested the ordinance. He was on a lunch outing when his wife took their baby Sophia, born April 20, to the bathroom and found no place to lay her down.
Boccard talked to the restaurant manager and promises were made, but nothing came of it.
"I had to change her in the hot car," Boccard said. "I couldn't believe a brand new restaurant wouldn't have a changing table."

Check pleaaaaaase!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so ridiculous. The looters are really taking over.
Believe it or not there lots of older restaurants in SO CAL don’t have baby changing table I am sorry but it is true
BOY talk about nanny state
Good grief. I changed all my kids in the car, even when there were changing stations. Cry me a river, lady.
Oops. I see the whiner is a man.
There really is no substitute for a good tar and feathering.
My kids grew up years ago when no one ever heard of public changing stations. Not sure I’d want to plunk them down on tables where other kids’ diapers leaked. Nope. I’d avoid the germy things.
Coral Springs is a beautiful area populated by many up and coming young families. How about letting the market figure it out on its own? Those who want to go to restaurants with changing tables can go to the ones that have them. If others lose business, they may feel the need to install them.
Note to self: avoid restaurants that have changing tables.
I still can’t figure out we survived before Hillary Clinton.
I did that 4 years ago! With one of those great changing pads you could change a baby in no time, anywhere. I even changed my baby on the floor of my car’s trunk once (with the trunk lid open, of course).
It isn’t just baby changing stations.
I had a company that serviced grocery stores for 25 years and Coral Springs is part of the area I dealt with.
Coral Springs and its city govt. are famous for being a pain in the rear to deal with.
Stupid stupid rules and laws for every and anything possible.
And their code enforcement clowns are it seems all high school dropouts.
I got ask my mom she may have change my brother and me in the car she might have some extra towels or blankets around LOL!
