Palin's teen daughter wishes pregnancy came later

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Bristol Palin loves motherhood, but the teenage daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she's not getting much sleep these days.

Bristol Palin says in a two-part interview on Fox News Channel's "On the Record" that she wishes her pregnancy had "happened in, like, 10 years so I could have a job and an education and be, like, prepared and have my own house and stuff."

Palin goes on to say that son Tripp, born Dec. 27, brings her so much joy, she doesn't regret having him at all. She's engaged to the baby's father, Levi Johnston.

The governor also made an appearance in the interview, which took place Sunday in Fairbanks.

Part one of the interview aired Monday night and the second part was scheduled to air Tuesday night.

Conservatives don’t have a viable candidate at this point.

DeMint, Jindal and Palin look the best so far, but DeMint will suffer for playing into the media caricature of the party, Jindal doesn’t have good international credibility and Palin has to boost her gravitas and undo the damage done to her by her unfortunate media debut (for which I think the McCain campaign was largely responsible for overprogramming her and handcuffing her to stay on message—that’s the only reason I can think of that Palin couldn’t name a single newspaper she read).

So Palin’s still in the running, but for me she’s not the slamdunk others want her to be.

Credibility seems to be the key word for some folks.

Yes, it seems to be a big issue for people who have no credibility of their own. The fact that not one has given a clear answer as to the relevance of Governor Palin's daughter's actions to Gov. Palin's political career tells me we have a little lib troll problem. This has nothing to do with anyone's values other than the lib aim to divide-and-conquer the right.

What stone did I throw? Did not Jesus tell the woman to cease her immorality? And what is PDS 2.0?

Sarah Palin, as I posted, confessed that her daughter’s pregnancy makes her advocacy of abstinence look “naive.”

So even she acknowledges the damage done.

Even the most cursory review of my posting history shows that I am neither a liberal nor a troll.

Honesty seems to be a key word for others.

I stand by my original assessment that it IS Palin Derangement Syndrome 2.0.

Did you watch the GVS interviews parts one and two? Bristol comes off as a nice, average teenage girl. And guess, what? Even nice girls have errors in judgment...that does not mean she is morally ignorant or that the actions of a couple of HS seniors are going to ‘damage social conservatism...’ Hyperbole much? The only people that ‘WILL conclude’ what Bristol’s pregnancy ‘says’ about her mother’s political positions and competency is that all involved are human and falable.

Those conservatives who critique all potential candidates with moral absolutes will find themselves saluting Dear Leader, President and Benefactor for Life, Barrack Hussein Obama. No Palin Sanctification here...just a recognition that life does happen...and it is how any one (politicians included) react that tells me how they will lead.

Gov. Palin is the only one out there who is not only conservative but can think and speak on her feet.
Is sharp and can take on any.

But she needs to be able to name a newspaper she reads.

For someone who made her living in media she got boxed in by Katie Couric way too easily—even granting that she was probably overprogrammed by the McCain people.

name a newspaper she reads

You obviously did’t hear her recent reply to that interview.

(besides handlers wern’t her friends) she was ending up be facetious in the interview, due to some of the questions (remember it went through a major edit job by the lib network) The Gov. has listed what she reads in other interviews because they asked an honest question.

Good points.

Your comments describe the manner in which it was said and the results could be predicted.

Firebomb, yes. Inflammatory statement, yes. Designed to bring attention to the poster.

PDS 2.0 is Palin Derangement Syndrome 2.0 (the second generation, i.e., Bristol Palin). Maybe I should copyright it...

You have’nt rolled any boulders, but you have been freely flinging the ‘holier than thou’ pea gravel on this thread...so IMO you have thrown the stones of deciding what is best for two teenagers, their progeny and their respective families and appointing yourself in a place to decide the ‘immorality’ of it all.

It doesn’t matter what you say to your friends after the fight, it matters what you do when you’re in the ring.

Knowing that Couric was hostile she should either have been scrupulously on the level and direct, minimising the opportunity for hostile editing, or she should have terminated the interview once it went outside her comfort level.

As someone in media she should know very well what a hostile interviewer can do with flip replies.

If, as you say, she was deliberately facetious, she gave Couric exactly what she wanted.

Where was I dishonest?

I was thinking first about your twisting of the "alien civilization" post of yours.
Then there was the post where you said Bristol was a minor.

From the transcript:

VAN SUSTEREN: Your parents know you're doing this interview. You're 18, so you make your own decisions, but do they know?

Now you've been claiming to have read the transcript and that seems a little unlikely given your lack of knowledge of it.

Gov. Palin needs to also not have the creative editing of the ObamaLoveFest over at NBC doing her post interview production. Do you think just maybe, the decision to have Bristol do THIS interview goes back to the fairness and compassion Greta VanSustern showed her mom? Do ya? Cause I sure do...Gov. Palin answered those same questions intelligently with other, less agenda driven interviewers...

You want Bristol to be a nice, average teenage girl, but on the issue of sexual morality “average” clearly trumps “nice.”

Polish it up any way you like, Bristol’s interview, and the attitude behind it that she really only erred in timing, damage Sarah’s ability to speak credibly on things like abstinence—Sarah herself concedes this.

So because they are unwilling to make that commitment now, or in your time frame it seems, they should give up their child, right?

Sarah Palin, as I posted, confessed that her daughter’s pregnancy makes her advocacy of abstinence look “naive.”

There is more dishonesty on your part. You take the whole thing out of context.

VAN SUSTEREN: So it's not just an issue of abstinence. That's one issue. But once we get beyond that -- you know, because when you have the discussion of abstinence, it's almost -- I always sort of feel badly because there's a wonderful child here and talking abstinence sounds -- I mean, it sounds...

SARAH PALIN: (INAUDIBLE) naive (INAUDIBLE)

Obviously, to someone familiar with the transcript, the comment "naive" was in response to the context Greta set up. That being the context of talking about abstinence in the presence of a life that would not exist if Bristol had been abstinent. Greta was making a stupid point but that was the context and you just twisted it into something it wasn't.

Are you honest about anything? You sure as heck aren't one to be pointing fingers about morality.

I think (just guessing on my part) that GVS ‘asked’ for an interview ‘when things settle down, after the baby is born, etc.’ Greta was ‘fair and balanced’ w/Gov. Palin...I think they (the families) thought maybe the air should be cleared and that GVS was someone they could trust. I think she was very gentle (though not exactly fawning or maternal) in her questioning of Bristol. GVS recognized that this is a young kid not a witness on the stand. I think she was being inquisitive yet somewhat restrained (how many times did she pause for iced tea????)
