WASHINGTON - - New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who argues her pro-gun stance aims to protect hunters' rights and the Second Amendment, last week said she and her husband, Jonathan, keep two rifles under their bed to protect their upstate home.
Gillibrand said neither she nor her husband is a hunter, and in a general discussion of gun control said, "If I want to protect my family, if I want to have a weapon in the home, that should be my right."
The mother of two young children has taken "gun safety procedures to ensure family safety," an aide later said, but declined to say what steps.
Gillibrand's guns are rifles, her chief of staff Jess Fassler said in an e-mail, and she won one of them in a raffle at a county fair while campaigning. He said New York does not require anyone to register rifles.

Perhaps a different storage place would be in order.
Moron.
Never publicly tip your hand.......
What would you call the Dem version of a RINO? She seems to fit that bill. A DINO? Doesn’t really have a ring to it. Something better is required. Not quite a Donkey, maybe a Honkey? Maybe a Dinkey? Oh well.
...”two rifles under their bed...”
You may want to consider a shorty spray gun and a couple
of loud, high caliber revolvers Kristen.
I dont know this person or the debate, but what if she sees the need to defend yourself, then is she for
concealed carry?
Gun bans by type?
ammo restrictions?
geographical gun ban restrictions?
I ask this because....many anti gunners say something about having a “rifle” to defend yourself, but the rifle seems to be something like a bolt action .243, never an AR 15 w a 30 round mag.
Or a Hi capacity Glock with hollow point ammunition carried on your person for when you take your child to school or the park..... or semi auto shotgun w .00 buckshot.
Many an anti gunner use the nebulous term rifle to give themselves gun cred, when in fact they are banners.
I dont know if this applies to this person or not.
Still in the box, I’ll hazard......
But if a deer breaks in some night, she’s got it covered.
“she and her husband, Jonathan, keep two rifles under their bed”
“The mother of two young children”
“Perhaps a different storage place would be in order.”
That was my first thought
Two guns under her bed and morals in the sewer. Just another liar.
I think she’s worse than Hillary, at least you knew what she was up front. This one lied her ass off. She’s in bed with Schumer.
I loathe living in NY.
My *rifles* stay in the gun cabinet. (not the best weapon for home protection.
Might I suggest to the good Senator, a nice Glock or a defender shotgun. under said bed.
Yeah, personally, I’d go with a 9mm or 40 S&W (hits a little harder). I’d also consider a Mossberg 500 tactical, 18.5” barrel, pistol grips loaded with #2 shot. For the truly paranoid, you might consider sleeping with a knife literally within arms reach. Less dangerous to kids than a loaded and non-locked firearm, and ready in case you wake up to someone already in the room...
What a joke.
How's either of those rifles going to help them protect their home?
Once someone is in the home is compromised. If they wish to protect their lives, they'll need something a little easier to wield...like a 9mm semi-auto or a nice nickel plated Colt Python .357 revolver.
As for keeping a rifle “under the bed”, I hope she's speaking figuratively. Snatching one up from down there and putting your face on the stock will douse you in a year's worth of slut's wool and dust mites, just the thing when you are scared and trying to get a good sight picture.
Then there is the kid access issue...
Sounds like someone having a peripheral knowledge of protecting a home/farm.
First of all, telling the burglars where to look while you are away isn't especially smart. Secondly, two rifles are a poor choice for home defense. Thirdly, storing the rifles under a bed tips the scales into the intruders favor.
bttt
His and hers, or just in case one jams?
No kidding! I hope the NRA takes notice of just how ignorant this woman is of the use of different guns and what the heck one uses for home defense. Rifles??? Sheesh, if they were to ever try to defend the homeplace, they could very well end up hurting/killing someone totally innocent. How can she claim to be gun saavy when she brags that they defend their home with rifles?
< /off rant >

You have an excellent point there. I read an article some years ago from New York State, the police siezed a "sawed off rifle" from a drug dealer's car.
