The problem is that a lot more people starved, died and went homeless under FDR than Hoover (and let us not forget he greatly exacerbated the Depression). FDR saddled us with gov’t programs that we still haven’t rid ourselves of today and should’ve long ago. If it wasn’t for his record on war policy (which at least helped to kick the GOP out of its isolationist naivete), I’d regard him domestically as the biggest Presidential disaster in the history of the Republic.

Not true...it’s estimated that 7 to 14 million starved and died of related illnesses under Hoover. Roosevelt...like him or not got aid to the common man...revisionist history.
