"That's what I said. That was met by attacks on Illinois ("I can't think of a state that hurt us more") like it's all my fault. He was pulling stuff out of his rear, choosing to attack me rather than just disagree."

Well, you no more to blame for the False Messiah than I am for the Gore family farce. Red herring crapola.

"I don't give 1/4 of a crap what tickles Vitter's fancy be it hookers or wearing depends for fun so long as he votes the right way. I just worry cause some voters do care, I see a parallel with Tim Hutchinson, who may still be there if he hadn't left his wife. They could find a nice "family values" fauxcon rat to take him on."

The Hutchinson attacks were ludicrous. They implied Tim had left his wife "and children" for some young honey. His "child" was a grown man with a wife of his own and was a member of the state legislature. But there is one thing a lot of people don't realize, getting elected to federal office can RUIN your marriage and family life. One of my old soap operas that I watch featuring a guy that for the Senate having to barnstorm NY state (and this in the late '70s), and he never got to see his girlfriend and his two children, had an affair with the woman accompanying him on his campaign. It may be soap, but it goes on a lot of the time. When you're having to commute from your home state to DC, spend most of the day at work and don't get home until late, it can be a disaster. Bob Dole's first wife told him it was either Congress or the marriage. He didn't want to go back to practicing law in a small town and he picked his career in DC. It's a bad scene, even worse when you don't have a supportive spouse.

"Well Clayburgh was. I don't know who if anyone will brace Pomeroy next year."

I'd call Clayburgh second tier. Someone who has already won major office in the state would be first-tier. When Ed Schafer ran for the Senate before he ran for Governor, he was still only second tier. The Senate race tended to elevate his exposure to de facto first tier.

"Oh you think he'll kick huh. I fear he could dodder on. But Kennedy will die soon. The draft Myth movement will start up and he'll spurn them."

That would require doing something REAL for the party. Funny thing is, that dumbass would actually enhance his rep were he to win that special election, but he'd soon find himself in a bind as soon as he cast a vote. With all eyes on him, he'd either have to vote "Conservative" as he markets himself as now or vote liberal (as he'd really prefer to). Double-edged sword for Slick Willard.

"This article indicates she does oppose it. It also says Palin is for it."

Of course, Palin is against it.

"The Prince, I've heard of him, he lost the primary in 06. He might have won in 1998. Ambercrombie had almost lost in 1996. Woah, really. Too bad it's seems to have faded to point he couldn't win a GOP primary."

He lost only by a hair to Bob Hogue in '06, apparently (though it's probably unlikely he'd have done much better). He was more high-profile in the '90s. He ran for a State House seat in November but fared poorly. Of course, when Duke Aiona runs for Governor, he could still pick him as a running mate, though he might prefer to pick a woman. Funny thing about Kawananakoa being a member of the Hawaiian Royal Family, there's been such a dilution of the line with Caucasian/Haole intermarriage that he pretty much looks just like a White guy. Of course, 10 years+ out of office is like being gone for a generation, rather forgotten.

"Fasi, the former rat. He should have run in the GOP primary if he wanted to be Governor. He sounds like a swelled head type to me."

Yeah, Fasi has a big ego. He formed his own party, the "Best Party", with that hand symbol. It frankly was more like a middle finger to the GOP. Had the '94 race been one on one between Cayetano and Saiki, I think Saiki would've likely won (of course, in that case, the big showdown in 2002 might've been between Lingle and Fred Hemmings, who would've been Lt Governor, now the Senate Minority Leader).

"I have a switchblade (illegal to carry in Chi-town)."

You're gonna need something with a bit more horsepower.

Ryan's Hope. You told me about that. Alleged DINO.

" When you're having to commute from your home state to DC, spend most of the day at work and don't get home until late, it can be a disaster. "

That's why we can excuse them moving into the area with their family.

Of course it was easy for Joe "Metra" Biden. The guy who plagiarized the Labour Party's Neil Kinnock is VP? Really? That's almost as absurd as Obama as President. I digress.

"I'd call Clayburgh second tier."

Well your a more exacting judge than I. He had a statewide office (Tax Commish). The same one Dorgan had before being elected to the House and Conrad had before the Senate. Pomeroy himself had been Insurance Commish. I'd call any statewide office first tier for a small state or a house seat

He does, a White King of Hawaii would be funny. Boy they sure like wearing those shirts, even in formal sitchs. I bet they wear them on the floor of the legislature.

I think Saiki would've likely won

ACU 50. But that beats the heck out of union dictatorship.

Well my dad has a shotgun and my uncle has some kind of rifle. Grandma packs heat as well.

I've never fired anything above a bb (my brother shot me in the leg, ouch) or pellet gun. Of course they are illegal in the city! Shooting beer bottles right under the Mayor's nose was loads of fun.
