Well, just looking at the numbers and recent election results, both VA and OH are trending liberal. In OH the 'Rats essentially kicked all 'Pubs out of state offices in '06. In '08, Obombah outperformed Kerry in '04 by almost 200,000 votes and 3 percentage points. For a Presidential contest, at least compared to recent elections, it wasn't even close.

The electorate in VA gave the boot to a TrueconservativeTM (Allen) in favor of an ersatz moderate 'Rat (Webb). They've elected 'Rat governors for two elections running, and the 'Rat candidate for Senate the last election absolutely stomped and thoroughly thrashed to death the through-and-through TrueconservativeTM 'Pub candidate, blowing him out of the water by over 30 points.

You just can't spun those kind of results away. They mean something, and people have to have the courage to see the reality of what we face. We'd better wake up and smell the coffee, or risk being relegated to the status of the Constitution Party or some other irrelevant political group.

You can become like the buggery party, I will stay true to my convictions. Seems like when the going gets tough your true colors show, RINO.

You are preaching to the choir...when you bring it up...you get name calling and denial in return. I don’t see now anyone can look at the 2006 and 2008 elections and believe ‘a true conservative’ can win the presidency or even governorships and congress (state and national) in some of these states.

It is not lost on the Mid West, how the South feels about them, (We had Shelby and Corker quotes for days in every paper about autos) if you run Sanford or any other Southerner, you will lose the entire Mid West...all this bashing of Ohio, Indiana and Michigan by true believers won’t help conservatives or the GOP one bit.

"In OH the 'Rats essentially kicked all 'Pubs out of state offices in '06."

Incorrect. Only DeWine was kicked out. For the statewide offices, excluding judicial, ALL of them were open seats. The Dems lucked out with sweeping all but one (Auditor).

"The electorate in VA gave the boot to a TrueconservativeTM (Allen) in favor of an ersatz moderate 'Rat (Webb). Simplistic analysis. Allen ran a poor race and got in trouble over that ludicrously overblown "macaca" comment (all the while the psychotic Socialist Webb was given a pass by his open Jew-baiting in both the Dem primary and general, nevermind all his other odious problems). As for the Gov's race, the '01 contest we lost because of a bitter internecine GOP primary that saw the loser's people go over to the rodent (Mark Warner). The Dems won again in '05 because of a poor campaign on behalf of our nominee and the inexplicable popularity of the incumbent that got his Lieutenant his "2nd" term. The blowout by Warner of his predecessor Gilmore was partly due to the fact that even with Gilmore, this seat wasn't seriously contested.

I might remind you that the 1980s saw a similar winning streak for the Democrats when they won THREE Gubernatorial elections in a row (1981; 1985; 1989) and in 1988 the GOP Senate incumbent fled his seat rather than face a popular Democrat ex-Governor named Robb (and the GOP nominee lost by as wide a margin as Gilmore). The Dems have a bigger problem this year in VA with the Governorship with at least three candidates running, promising a very ugly primary. The GOP has already settled on a candidate, the sitting Attorney General, who leads ALL the Democrats in face-to-face matchups. I think the Democrat winning streak is about to come to an end in VA.
