Hotshot greens caught wasting home heat
A survey of the homes of top environmentalists has found they leak energy

THEY may shout their green credentials from the rooftops, but some of Britains most prominent environmental champions are living in homes that produce up to half a ton of excess carbon dioxide a year.
An audit of properties, measuring heat loss, has revealed that Chris Martin, the pop star, Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, and Sir David Attenborough, the broadcaster, are among those who reside in homes that are leaking energy. Some lack even the most basic energy saving measures such as cavity wall insulation and double glazing.
Thermal images of the residences of 10 high-profile green campaigners found that their heat loss was either worse or no better than that found in the average family home.
Simon Hughes, the Liberal Democrat energy and climate change spokesman, owned the least energy-efficient property. He bought his £150,000 flat in Southwark, south London, 25 years ago but has failed to fit it with any significant insulation. Only last week Hughes unveiled plans to make every home in Britain energy efficient within the next decade. He could start with his own flat.

I'd like to see some thermal imaging of AlGore's Tennessee plantation, not to mention his "green" boat.

It's not like these people are going to lose any sleep or modify their behavior because someone here is hyperventilating over it.
In the Soviet Union, the elite lived in Dachas and drove Zil limousines. They needed their countryside homes and their vehicles because they worked so hard at being the 1st among equals. The enemy is no longer at our gate, he is living in his Dacha outside D.C. or some other Godforsaken liberal place.
When it gets as ridiculous as Streisand powering her mansion while telling everyone else to air dry their clothes, you don’t really need the thermal imaging to prove hypocrisy.

We have the power to alter or abolish a government which becomes destructive every 2, 4, or 6 years; yet the same representatives who are destroying our country keep getting elected because they trickle economic slop to the troughs of their constituents while doling out sweetmeats and gravy to the platters of their contributors.
Sure we have the right to petition. It's amazing how much a butt-load of cash pumped into a campaign makes that petition float to the top. Absent the cash, it's just another fleck in the static.
Sleight of hand and blame game? Oh yeah. Bills pushed through on Fridays so that public scrutiny misses the news cycle. Funny -- Hitler pulled many of his pre-WWII geopolitical moves on Fridays, so that any opposition would be presented a fait accompli, at the point of being too late to respond.
And try to nail down who is responsible. Obama's consistently whining about "inheriting this crisis." Well, gee, Mr. O, shouldn't congress have been on the ball? And where were you before you were president? Hmmm. Sounds more like having pissed in the well you now wnat to drink from, to me. Maybe if you had actually VOTED on legislation, instead of just saying, "Huh?"
Officially he voted “Present,” but he was actually just practicing saying “President.”
