Climate change could be even worse than feared (Just what the left ordered, more fear and doom)

CHICAGO (AFP) – It seems the dire warnings about future devastation sparked by global warming have not been dire enough, top climate scientists warned Saturday.

It has been just over a year since the Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published a landmark report warning of rising sea levels, expanding deserts, more intense storms and the extinction of up to 30 percent of plant and animal species.

But recent climate studies suggest that report significantly underestimates the potential severity of global warming over the next 100 years, a senior member of the panel warned.

"We are basically looking now at a future climate that is beyond anything that we've considered seriously in climate policy," said Chris Field, who was a coordinating lead author of the report.

"Without effective action, climate change is going to be larger and more difficult to deal with than we thought."

Fresh data has shown that greenhouse gas emissions have grown by an average of 3.5 percent a year from 2000 to 2007, Field told reporters at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

That's "far more rapid than we expected" and more than three times the 0.9 growth rate in the 1990's, he said.

While increased economic activity could have contributed to the growth in emissions, Field said it appears as though the bulk of the growth is "because developing countries like China and India saw a huge upsurge in electric power generation, almost all of it based on coal."

Further complicating the problem is that higher temperatures could thaw the Arctic tundra and ignite tropical forests, potentially releasing billions of tons of carbon dioxide ..

That could raise temperatures even more and create "a vicious cycle that could spiral out of control by the end of the century."

CHICAGO (Reuters) - The climate is heating up far faster than scientists had predicted, spurred by sharp increases in greenhouse gas emissions from developing countries like China and India, a top climate scientist said on Saturday. “The consequence of that is we are basically looking now at a future climate that is beyond anything that we’ve considered seriously,” Chris Field, a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, told the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Chicago. Field said “the actual trajectory of climate change is more serious” than any of the climate predictions...

Disregard. Climate change is just the vehicle that will be used to usher in the New World Order. It does not have to be real. Combined with the destruction of the financial system and the computer chip implant the control will be total.

This story is amazing tripe. This is just hopeful wishing that something bad will happen.

REV 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale (translates as green) horse and his name that sat on him was Death(also the name of an individual), and Hell followed with him (all the hellbound?) and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth

Green is the color of Islam, and the color of those that propose to use environmentalism to meld the world into one.

So C02 emissions have increased, but the earth has in fact cooled since 1998.

Only in a Liberal’s mind does this equal Global Warming.

We've been hearing this from the “environmentalists” since the 1970s. Enough already.

There was a great commercial on during Glen Beck which shows a rich guy (named Carlton?) who brags about flying around saving the world and not caring if little people go bankrupt. If anyone has the You Tube link it should be posted far and wide.

The world can get by without without Leftwing moonbats and Islamic Jihadists.

As for rizing sea levels, -B.S.

more intense storms- B.S.

the extinction of up to 30 percent of plant and animal species.- Absolute nonsense. (PS, bugs are not animals and we can do with less bugs anyway.) and if the arctic ice is melting , which it isn't, then there will be even MORE greenspace.

Expanding deserts- B.s. (like the Sahara huh? which UN Alarmists spent billions bulldozing and planting tree's only to discover billions and years later that the expansion and contraction of the Sahara desert is a natural phenomenon.

God told me the only way to stop global warming is to drag all the politicians out onto a stack of firewood and burn the suckers up.

Honest!

"WOW! What a beautiful picture. I have azaleas blooming in my yard, spring is here."

And I got another 4 inches of snow. Spring is still at LEAST 6 weeks away, but if the 'warming' trend of the last fews years continues, we won't have summer till late June.
