Immigration will determine the fate of the GOP. Those who pander to Hispanics in the mistaken idea that they will become Rep voters are sadly mistaken. Our current legal immigration policies, in place since 1965, will ensure that the Dems are the permanent majority party. And those who advocate a path to citizenship for the 12 to 20 million illegals already here will just hasten the process. Demography is destiny.

Amen. People should realize that demography is what enabled the U.S. to defeat the Indians and Mexicans in the first place. Early Americans bred like crazy and their numbers were further increased by massive immigration from Europe. Now the Mexicans have completely reversed those roles, and are achieving reconquista of the Southwest. All of the new non-European immigrant groups (Hispanics, Asians, Muslims, Africans) vote heavily Demonrat. Tancredo was the only politician with the guts to advocate an end (or at least drastic restrictions) to any further immigration.

Yes, Kabar, but we can’t even get an overwhelming majority of the WHITE vote anymore. If you see the areas that voted for McCain, you will see that it was basically in the Scots-Irish belt that stretches from Central PA down through Oklahoma. We can’t seem to break through to Lutherans in the upper midwest, white Catholics in the northeast/Great Lakes, or non-Calvinist whites anywhere.
