Obama says Illinois 'ready to move forward' after Blagojevich
THE STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER ^ | Feb. 13, 2009 | Bernard Schoenburg

Illinois is “ready to move forward” after the removal from office of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, President Barack Obama said in an interview with The State Journal-Register Thursday.

Obama, talking with a reporter by phone after an appearance in Peoria, said he was distressed by the nature of the allegations made against Blagojevich.

“But I think Illinois at this point’s ready to move forward,” the president said.

~snip~

Obama also defended Illinois against allegations that the state has a track record for corruption.

“You can paint with too broad a brush,” the president said. “This is a state that’s produced unbelievable public servants like Dick Durbin and Paul Simon and Paul Douglas. ...

“I do think that some of the problem is structural. ... But, you know, ultimately, I hope that you have a new generation of elected officials coming in that see their job as a mission and not just a business of self-aggrandizement.”

Illinois 'ready to move forward'

Laughs..thats not what I was told tonight out of Ilinois. Many Illinoians did not receive that memo and do not want to go into the city to give Daley and friends one red cent ..parking has been turned over to a private company and prices raised! Chicago, I was informed, has just been awarded one of the Worst Cities in the US in eight areas: alcohol, tobacco, sex, guns, gambling, drugs, freedom of movement, and a catch-all category of food and “other.” Other might just refer to corrupt politicians

Durbin's unbelievable, all right. An unbelievable lying SOB and anti-American. Come on, Obambi; nobody believes this cr*p. And who's Paul Simon? The playwrite?

No,that was Neill Simon, and this is not the other Paul Simon, the songwriter, either. He was this doofus looking lefty who wore a bow tie, and did a good job of taking orders from the Daley faction of the Central Committee. Nothing good has come from Illinois since Ev Dirksen died.

No, I think Blago already has a book deal and will make millions exposing the corrupt politics in Chicago and Illinois.

Hopefully he had disclosed the details to his publisher before he meets his maker.

Pass me the popcorn....extra salt and butter please. Skip the pork skins, they are only for Democrats, Snowe, Collins and Spector.

Don’t forget Paul Simon’s ill-fated run for president — was it 1992? or 1988?

I wonder sometime if Blago wasn’t made to be a sacrificial lamb after he ‘pressed’ a little?? If so, A den of thieves for his cabinet, other key positions, and Porkulus. What a great feint for the ‘0’ to stack his crooked deck?
