Gregg withdraws from consideration for Commerce post [POSTED TO ILLUSTRATE BLATANT BIAS]
CNN ^ | 2/12/09

Posted on 02/12/2009 3:56:43 PM PST by AfterManyASummer

"Mr. Gregg approached us with interest and seemed enthusiastic," he told State Journal-Register in Springfield, Illinois. "But ultimately, I think, we're going to just keep on making efforts to build the kind of bipartisan consensus around important issues that I think the American people are looking for."

...

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs issued a statement late Thursday afternoon saying "we regret that he has had a change of heart."

"Sen. Gregg reached out to the president and offered his name for secretary of commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace and move forward with the president's agenda," Gibbs said.

"Once it became clear after his nomination that Sen. Gregg was not going to be supporting some of President Obama's key economic priorities, it became necessary for Sen. Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways."

...

[The next section was in the initial CNN report but has apparently just been edited out.]

"African-American and Latino leaders are concerned that the Census Bureau, which is part of the Commerce Department, might lack sufficient resources under Gregg's leadership to accurately count ethnic minorities."

If it were me I would have really riled liberals up.

“LIMBAUGH FORCES GREGG TO WITHRAW FROM CONSIDERATION!!!!”

Truth isn’t really an issue is it?

Anyone want to bet that we will soon have many thousands more “ethnic” Democrats discovered in the next census? Districts will be redrawn. Congressmen will be added. Power will be assured. Who knew all those uncounted black and hispanic voters were out there all along? This new estimating software works great. And a big thank you to ACORN for filling out all those manual census forms. Here’s another billion for you guys, now go and organize some more communities.

Here's the text of the White House statement on Gregg's withdrawal:
“Senator Gregg reached out to the President and offered his name for Secretary of Commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace, and move forward with the President’s agenda. Once it became clear after his nomination that Senator Gregg was not going to be supporting some of President Obama’s key economic priorities, it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways. We regret that he has had a change of heart”.
Meaning, "he came to us and lied to our face, so screw him." Pretty much the nastiest one of these I've ever read. Rahm Emmanuel had a hand in that, no doubt.

The Rino that was going to replace Gregg would have been voting just like Specter, Collins, and Snowe....

This is very big deal in my opinion. It shows a lack of confidence in the President.

Shades of Jack Kennedy; it shows that Obama is weak. Very bad.

My guess is that a foreign power will try to exploit this weakness as did the Russians with Cuba.

That's what I was thinking when I read that part, about "making sure minorities are accurately represented". If the truth be told, they're already overly represented in quota measures, according to their actual percentage of the population. The census move is another piece of the whole picture-funding ACORN, the coming amnesty, all other measures to keep the marxist rats in power-to implement marxism---especially Hussein's particular brand of black liberation theology socialism----and reparations by whatever name will be coming down the pipeline before his first term is out--I would bet money on it, if our currency is still any good by then. Hussein looks like just another marxist, but just wait till he really gets going--all the white liberals cheering him on are in for a big surprise. Of course, as much white guilt as they've ingested, they may cheer for their own demise. They certainly haven't minded the demise of America-their own country.

I just assumed that Gregg sobered up wondering, ‘How the hell did I get here...and I did what!’ I had the same experience as an undergrad.

I am not from Senator Greggs state, but I have written him complimenting him on his courage, his patriotism and his willingness to put his country over his personal advancement.

I hope every conservative will also write him. He deserves to know how much we appreciate him.

It won’t be called reparations because that word has a negative connotation. It will be something like the “Civil Justice Act” or maybe the “Fair Compensation Act”. And it will probably be buried in a spending bill as an amendment.

Heck, isn't the current spending bill around 1500 pages by now and growing? Reparations may already be in there.

Has anyone who is voting on this bill actually read all 1500 pages? I doubt it.

It may well be. The people we elect to represent our interests and protect our rights certainly wouldn't know-I doubt if many of them would care. In their position, they have all kinds of ways of protecting themselves from the miseries they inflict or allow to be inflicted on the rest of us. What they are not, is public servants.
