The new Vogue cover star is turning her favourite designers into stars - much to the disapproval of fashion's old guard
Although Michelle Obama has admitted - shockingly, considering the context - that she is less interested in clothes than politics and children in her upcoming interview in Vogue, after less than a month in the White House she is already proving to wield greater influence over the fashion world than the industry has known in years.

Older women simply should not wear halter tops. Anywhere. Not even the beach. No matter how much they paid for their b**bs. I say this as an older woman with a (naturally) impressive bosom, myself. Even young women should avoid halter tops, unless they’re trying to pick up a bank teller at Friday Happy Hour. The lady to our right in the picture, in the long black gown, is clearly dressed for winter ... but only if she’s about to deliver a solo aria at a charity performance!
Michelle Obama could look perfectly decent in a variety of outfits, *if* her ghastly posture were fixed. I’m beginning to doubt that she’s chosing these clothes as a Statement. I think she’s just not alert enough to realize how out-of-place, and often unattractive, she looks.
Cindy McCain has excellent style. She wears colors that most women shouldn’t touch, but so did Lynne Cheney.
Oh dear, this outfit is downright sad.
ah jeez MO, keep your legs together.
Now *this* is a First Lady!
MO seems to be rebelling in her role as first lady.
hm. Then maybe she stayed ‘home’ wearing her robe and fuzzy slippers..unbathed and watching 80’s reruns on the tube.
oh no. someone that broad in the beam cannot and MUST NOT wear horizontal stripe-age!
In post 136 of the Fashion Thread #3 (sorry I don’t know how to post pictures), she actually looks glamorous. The outfit, of course, is too decollete for a First Lady, but she’s wearing makeup and long dangly earrings and her hair is pulled back.
There is also a picture of her on the first thread in which she is wearing a black and tan dress and coat with black gloves. It is also very well put together and she looks very nice and appropriate.
Which makes me realize that she does know how to look appropriate for the occasion, as well as glamorous, so I think she is making a statement to the American People:
“Take this First Lady Job and shove it!”
Or a skid mark.
*please don’t ban me.
OKAY - OKAY!!!!
I dropped an “s” off the start of “kid”!!!
So [s]ue me!!!!! ;-P
Stupid, fat fingers on my darned hands!
*hug*
