A few weeks ago, a senior Greek Orthodox clergyman in Israel attended a meeting at a government office in Jerusalem's Givat Shaul quarter. When he returned to his car, an elderly man wearing a skullcap came and knocked on the window. When the clergyman let the window down, the passerby spat in his face.
The clergyman prefered not to lodge a complaint with the police and told an acquaintance that he was used to being spat at by Jews. Many Jerusalem clergy have been subjected to abuse of this kind. For the most part, they ignore it but sometimes they cannot.

We support a lot of ingrates.
And for those in the more Orthodox areas, rocks will be thrown at cars that run on the SABBATH. No ‘fire’ is suppose to be lit, on teh Sabbath, not even in spark plugs.
When in Rome. LOL
I’ve read that the ultra orthodox are exempt from military service, and manylive on welfare while they continue their religious studies, which often never end. So you could call them ingrates to their own country, too.
Doesn’t the Greek Orthodox hierarchy support the PLO and rail against Israel?
I should add that there’s a big difference between spitting at someone whose religion you disdain, and shooting rockets at them.
1. Keep in mind this is Haartz, which is secular and despises observant Jews. They are known for NYT quality journalism.
2. Many of the Haredi are generally anti-zionist, despise Jews other than themslves, and do this to everyone, not just Christians.
“Doesnt the Greek Orthodox hierarchy support the PLO and rail against Israel?”
Historically, yes. Less so, now. The arab Christians of the area aligned with the islamic arabs. This is changing.
Classy bunch over there.
“Ive read that the ultra orthodox are exempt from military service, and manylive on welfare while they continue their religious studies, which often never end. So you could call them ingrates to their own country, too.”
Somewhat. There are now orthodox divisions that resolve this.
But, yes, the Shas party is like the welfare-for-fat-guys with bad hygene party. (And I say this as a Sephard.)
“And for those in the more Orthodox areas, rocks will be thrown at cars that run on the SABBATH. No fire is suppose to be lit, on teh Sabbath, not even in spark plugs.”
Only if the cars are believed to be driven by Jews.
Non-Jews are free to do what they will on the Sabbath — light fires, whatever.
Unlike Islam, Judaism does not impose its internal restrictions on others.
They don’t spit on Jews in Rome.
Anti-Christian bigotry is rife in Israel. Whenever the subject comes up here on FR those who acknowledge the hatred of Christians by some Jews (and tolerance and cover-up of this hatred by some others, Jews and otherwise) are roundly criticized for daring to point this out. But I believe that it strengthens Israel just as it strengthens all of humankind to tell the truth regarding such matters. Genuine pluralism is absolutely necessary for human advancement. No one can be allowed to remain exempt from the requirement to respect the faith of others.
Oh, I am sure you could find the neighborhood in Rome where they would.
Yeah, they spat in in the Son of God’s face as well.
Spit back and then invite them to join you for an AIDS cocktail, for which you are already late.
It sounds like at least some Jews are imposing their internal fluids on others.
How To Win Friends And Influence People
While Christians are hated worldwide, it will not always be the case that the Jews will hate those who have been grafted in.
