Fed-up Bredesen fires back at critics--TennCare raised as block to Cabinet

Unable to post text from a Gannett newspaper. To summarize, Moveon.org is trying to derail Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen's consideration for Health and Human Services Secretary. They claim Bredesen gutted TennCare, the state insurance program for the uninsured. Bredesen did cut services in TennCare to keep it solvent. He's a democrat who leans more towards fiscal conservatism than your typical beltway Dem. He has repeatedly refused to get on the "we need an income tax" bandwagon and simply said we need to live within our means.

It appears that Sebelius is being blocked by hordes of unhappy Democrats and others (lack of experience, field of interest too small, radical pro-abort type, Hillary’s/Shalala’s politics out of favor, etc.). So will it be Bredesen or Dean? After a quick search, it’s obvious that most favored Democrat publications are screaming in favor of the screamer (Dean).

If it’s Phil Bredesen, he’s term limited as governor and his lt. gov is a Republican, a great payback for what the Dems pulled in the TN House.

From the liberal words of my brother. “He’s the best Republican Governor we’ve had in years.” It drew quite a smile from me.

Bredesen is a good Governor. He’s a businessman and a democrat. He is a realist. I can understand fully why moveon says hell no. They are a whacked satanist bunch.

Bredesen acts more like a Republican than a Democrat on most topics. He declared his party to be D because that’s what he needed to be to win the Nashville Mayoral race. I’ve always said he would have to change parties to go to Washington.

I moved back here after my western US exploring for about 14 years. Sundquist was Governor and he was pathetic. Bredesen seems to know sound business practices.
