It's 2009, the end of a decade which -- when it comes to television -- was defined in large part by reality shows. By now, most of us reality fans have become a bit jaded. Backstabbing, catfights, rants, breakdowns - there's just not much shock value left anymore. So after Valleywag ran this story about public reaction to one man's behavior on (of all shows) "Wife Swap" a few weeks ago, it got me thinking about how this particular guy had disturbed and outraged so many people.

The man-haters will spread “worst husband” stories through every medium at every chance. The most valued tactic in women’s studies courses is to present one evil male character after another, brainwashing students with the impression that all “males” are evil. [Male: feminist term for the purpose of portraying men in general as being animals.]
You gotta admit that this guy is a miserable excuse for a human being after reading the whole story.
His wife probably ties him up and canes him at the slightest misstep.
I watch TV very little, but I did watch this particular episode. In my opinion, all the couples/families in this set-up are dysfunctional in some manner, but as the swap proceeds, do begin to modify their behavior as a result. Some value seems to come from the experience, in the end.
However, Fowler was incorrigible from beginning to end. He heaped abuse on Gayla, on American culture, and every word from his mouth ranged from scathingly condescending to ouright vulgar. In the dictionary next to “SOB”, there should be a picture of this guy.
As a man, I am embarrassed this specimen shares my gender.
As an American, I’d like to kick his sorry ass and send him back across the pond.
Just my 2 cents.
Somebody who is truly educated will be able to go for years without pointing that fact out.
The results of a GRE exam would never report a result in the 99.999th percentile. In fact, the term “99.999th Percentile” is incorrect, since a percentile is always expressed in intergers. Therefore, the correct statement would be that one scored in the 99th Percentile.
And, of course, the GRE exam has absolutely no correlation to IQ. So a statement that scoring in the 99.999th Percentile means he has a 158 IQ is wrong on two levels.
And, finally, you know that when a person mentions his own IQ, you are dealing with a very stupid person, no matter what number he reports. The citation of the number says more than the score ever could.
Thanks for the link.
That guy is a real piece of garbage.
I live very close to San Fran. I think I know the school those kids go to. Actually know a few kids who go there. Very rich, very snooty. Some of the kids and parents are very nice, but others...
Let’s just say, I know some people who believe just what this “man” believes. They just have enough sense to keep most of it to themselves.
So sad for those kids. I am trying really hard to be a better Christian, so I should keep the rest of my comments to myself.
I wonder if he was part of the soiree where obama gave his 'Bitter Clinger' remarks. The pompous pile of crap crowd coughs up the bucks when they hear that stuff.
At the end both couples sit down together to review the experience. There is no way that Grade A British Fem would have left the room without an a$$-whippin’. He is the rule rather than the exception in San Fran I reckon. Tree-hugging, latte-sipping, arrogant neo-Marxist who would not survive one week without those he so disdains.
Note that this fellow’s wardrobe seems to consist entirely of T-shirts with environmental slogans printed on the front. It appears that his correctness on environmental issues is the thing he most wants to communicate to the World at large.
The sad thing is that he seems to think this concern over the environment is a reasonable substitute for concern for his fellow human being, and that being a tree-hugger absolves him from being a evil person in every other respect.
(And, frankly, given the fellow’s rather palatial house and all those expensive toys, I would wager his carbon footprint is even larger than Al Gore’s. Not that I give a damn.)
Jerks like this are one of the big reasons I left California to move to New Jersey. I have never regretted my decision for a moment.
That was a TV show right? Weird show. I have never before watched it.
What would motivate anyone to be on it? Money? Leave your spouse & kids for a few extra dollars? It does not compute.
Oh for crying out loud. Read the story before jerking your knee like a liberal. This is not about feminsts abusing a hard working dad. It’s about an arrogant leftist Silicon Valley yuppie who thinks he is better than us red staters and his verbal and mental abuse of a conservative, middle class american woman. (Not to mention his negative comments about people who join the military.)
Not sure he can beat out Scott Peterson.

Some of the arguments against my comment are beside the point. Women studies courses do show a long line of truly bad characters in order to brainwash students into applying their feelings about so many bad characters to men in general. It’s a feminist tactic that was used, for example, to convince even most Republicans in Congress to pass the anti-Second-Amendment and wasteful VAWA. ...also used in Europe before and during WWII.
...yet another reason, BTW, that I am now an “unaffiliated” voter after so many years of being a registered Republican.
Fowler’s wife need professional help. She no different than the woman you see on COPS screaming, “But I love him...” as they stuff her abuser into the back of a police cruiser.
Nobody with a healthy sense of self-worth would stay with such an abuser.
