Governor Sebellius. Another Dissident Catholic for Health and Human Services?
Catholic Online ^ | 2/12/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

Now, the story surrounding this important appointment may be taking an even more troubling turn. If the rumors prove to be true, the replacement for Tom Daschle may be the Governor of Kansas, Kathleen Sebelius. Catholics and all who recognize that the inalienable right to life attaches to all human persons from the moment of conception have serious reason to be alarmed if they are true.

Governor Kathleen Sebellius is an outspoken Catholic dissident who views the taking of the lives of children in the first home of the whole human race as a “health service” and a “choice”. If her record in Kansas is any indication of how she would lead HHS, she would be an aggressive advocate of the expansion of abortion and the use of Federal funds to pay for it.

The Kansas Governor received extensive coverage during the last U.S. presidential campaign. She was an early supporter of the candidacy of Barack Obama for the Presidency. After his nomination she became a leading contender for the Vice Presidential candidate on the Democratic ticket.

However, her continuous and overt defiance of the teaching of the Catholic Church concerning the dignity of every human person no matter how small led to her public reprimand by the Archbishop of Kansas City Joseph F. Naumann, her own Bishop. While claiming to be a Catholic, Governor Sebellius consistently vetoed every effort to restrict abortion.

The Archbishop referred to her “30-year history of advocating and acting in support of legalized abortion” in his public correction fo the Governor. He noted that she was engaging in what the Catholic Catechism defines as “scandal”, when “one’s action leads someone else to sin. Scandal is an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil.”

Can Gov. Kathleen Sibelius take communion in the Roman Catholic Church if she is associated with murder or abuse of the unborn, terminally ill, or elderly? If she becomes Secretary of Health and Human Services in this administration, she will be expected to support some seriously evil policies.

Sebelius gives Killer Tiller a special reception in the Governor's Mansion in gratitude for his generous support in her last election campaign.

Extremely radical feminist and extreme abortion proponent including late-term. ...been in KS, and the best advice is to keep KS things in KS. ...the worst of radical, anti-family, socialist policies and heaps of deceiving propaganda to go with them. The place is a pit of some of the oldest of evils born from the Graveyard of Europe (eastern to southwestern).

I don’t like people who repost, but heck...I posted most of this the other day, and I think it’s important in this respect.

The appointment of Sibelius is also being done to taunt and hopefully create a crisis with the Catholic Church. So far, despite the fact that many bishops are more Dem than Catholic, the Church is the only institution that has consistently opposed Obama’s pro-death policies. With the recent words from Abp Burke in Rome, it also seems as if the bishops are going to be forced to start publicly excommunicating some of the more blatant offenders among the pro-abortion “Catholic” politicians.

The Obama team’s approach is simply going to be to pick prominent pro-abortion Catholics and dare the bishops to take action. If they do, no doubt the Government will try to go after them legally by saying they are interfering in politics, although abortion is not political but moral and ethical and excommunication is not political but an internal matter of Church discipline. However, one thing that is very important for this Brave New World is the image of unity, and if Barry cannot co-opt the Church and get it to go along by forming “faith committees,” etc., then the gloves are off. Dissent will not be tolerated.

I think the Obama team (people like Ayers, Emmanuel, etc.) also hope to create a split in the Church. They know that there are numerous bishops who are leftists and really don’t care about abortion, and that there are very large numbers of Catholics who would vote Dem no matter what (as we saw during the election). I think the Obamanoids hope to create a situation where the orthodox bishops will be marginalized and you will then at some point have the declaration of a new American Church, a Patriotic Church type of entity which will, of course, get all the property of that old Roman Catholic Church. Once they’ve created a new entity the old one will then be declared a subversive organization.

I used to think talk like this was paranoid raving, but I’m feeling less inclined to that point of view every day.

If she ends up at HHS and promotes FOCA, it’s time for the Vatican to play rough.
