Chavez Seeks End To Democracy In Venezuela February 11th, 2009 By PATRICK EDABURN

Over the eight years of the Bush administration, many on the far left warned that he was going to bring an end to democracy in the United States, that he was going to end elections, ban dissent, and so on. Such complaints have been raised against most recent adminstrations and in every case they were wholly unfounded.

But in Venezuela it looks like things are heading just that direction. President Chavez is already in position as a virtual dictator, with total control of almost all forms of media (television, radio, newspapers) and the power of the entire government behind his agenda.

Sounds familiar...I’m sure Obama’s taking notes and probably has a bet with Hugo on who completes it first.

Hmmmmm, sounds like Zero except w/o the gun control Chavez has. I guess thats next....quote from Venezuela news 2006:

“We are going to get the ball rolling on this disarmament plan in order to take all of those [weapons] that are found to be illegal out of circulation and this will be presented in two weeks to the President of the Republic, Hugo Chavez, for consideration for its implementation.” Announced Chacon. “By the end of July, we expect to be able to count on a complete registry of the whole range of weapons that are out there, as much in the security organizations as well as in the hands of the civilian population.

Coming to Obama land next!

FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven’t been a fan of Pat’s recently, but I’m liking his original statement. Not sure I’d make it on the 700 Club, though. “We should kill the bastard. Now, let’s open up the prayer lines and speak of God’s love.” :-D

Chavez won’t go anywhere. The “majority” of people in Venezuela voted him in — twice. His Parliment gave him almost total power. It is nothing to him to toss aside any “constitutional” rules — that’s the mark of a true Marxist!

Sadly, the nearly half of the population in Venezuela who love Liberty cannot depend on the US to support an effort to rid itself of this petty, self-important dictator. In fact, our President apparently lookd to Chavez as a forerunner, as a pattern for exactly what he wants to do here.

Good luck and Godspeed to those who seek freedom in Venezuela. I trust thier struggle — no matter how harrowing it may get — will serve as an example to us here in the US when the time comes for us to mount a battle for freedom.
