Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske has accepted a job as the nation's drug czar in the Obama administration, according to a source in Washington, D.C., who is familiar with the administration's plans.

The source said today that Kerlikowske has been chosen to head the Office of National Drug Control Policy, a Cabinet-level position otherwise known as the drug czar. The office, established in 1988, directs drug-control policy in the U.S.

Other sources also said they expected Kerlikowske to be named to the job, which requires Senate confirmation.

Kerlikowske, who has led the Seattle Police Department for more than eight years, has told the department's top commanders that he expects to leave to take a top federal position, according to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because they aren't officially authorized to disclose the information

As a fellow Washingtonian, we know that this guy is a Leftist weenie. Good riddance, though I apologize to the nation for foisting him upon you.

I’m not a doper, but with this lightweight loon in that job, those that are.... should get ready to light up.

On the flip side, I can tell you that Seattle PD won’t miss him.

I remember that murder...Chris Kime?

Thugs ran rampant thru a crowd, and when the cops were notified ON THE SCENE that a person was getting kicked to death, they declined to intervene. They were a few hundred feet away.

Anyway, the top cop in question is a gun-grabbing elitist who wants the little people disarmed.

More Business As Usual From Seattle Police Chief Kerlikowske
By mjseattle

After Kris Kime was bludgeoned to death by thugs in view of Seattle Police while Gil Kerlikowske ordered them not to intervene, Mayor Nickels publicly vowed to hang Kime’s death certificate in his office. The city settled a lawsuit from the Kime family out of court.

But Kerlikowske, who showed his remorse by saying “I think we moved in at the proper time,” is still Seattle’s Police Chief. Kerlikowske’s habit is to quote the high crime rate of completely different cities to defend his performance. Here he goes again in the Seattle PI:

Kerlikowske points out Seattle has less violent crimes than cities of similar size, including Washington D.C. and Boston.

Less crime than DC? Now that’s something to brag about, isn’t it?

Meanwhile Kime’s killer Jerell Thomas had his murder conviction overturned in the aftermath of a reversed murder conviction for a guy who kicked a toddler to death. Thomas’s lawyer said he could be released as early as 2008, though as far as I know that hasn’t actually happened.

Isn’t it just a tiny bit alarming to you that the use of such terms(czars, czarinas and troikas)by the MSM doesn’t seem to be the least bit tongue in cheek?

How convenient. From the town where his trashy mom and his grandma toot used to attend the little *red* commie church.

So as drug czar in the white house, does that mean his job is to provide coke and crack to barry and friends?

“The office, established in 1988, directs drug-control policy in the U.S.”

Proof positive the government will continue down a path regardless of how unsuccessful it is.
