Republicans Shut Out of Stimulus Conference Negotiations (Defeat Porkulus!)
Human Events ^ | Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | Connie Hair

Republicans have caught the Democrats in a midnight “stimulus” power play that seeks to cut Republican conferees out of the House-Senate negotiations to resolve a final version of the Obama “stimulus” package. Staff members from the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) met last night to put together the “stimulus” conference report.

They intend to attempt to shove this $1.3 trillion spending bill through in the dead of the night without Republican input so floor action can take place in both chambers on Thursday.

I spoke with House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) moments ago about this latest version of Democratic “bipartisanship.” Pence told me, “I think the American people deserve to know that legislation that would comprise an amount equal to the entire discretionary budget of the United States of America is being crafted without a single House Republican in the room.”

How many Senate RINOs will go along with this? Probably, just enough for the Dems to get away with it.

I like this one;

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.—Benjamin Franklin

I recognize her name. She’s one of us, or used to be.

Thanks for the info, kristinn.

I'm angry.

The dems do not have a mandate to do this.

We want to be represented as well.

Rush Limbaugh is just as angry as I am today.

The era of Obama’s “bipartisan” approach is over. The nation is officially lost. < /Cranky Cronkite >

I am presently on the phone on hold with Senator Sherrod Brown’s office. Sherrod Brown was once my congressman prior to the 2000 census and redistricting. I am going to give his staff an earful.

From your source, it appears the motion to proceed to the conference report is not debatable, and thus it’s a majority vote, but the measure itself is debatable and subject to cloture.

As ludicrously absurd as that sounds, I think the Democrats (Obama, Pelosi , Barney Frank, et al) really WOULD prefer that the UN draft the budget. Maybe it already has, and the UNSSIFA is celebrating at the floating bar in St. Barts.

“Is it lock & load time?”

My CHL application has been sitting on my desk for months. I think it’s time to dust it off.

Since the One is herding in socialism at break neck speed, God only knows what’s next.

Well, at least the person at Senator Voinovich’s office had a clue, unlike the person at Sherrod Brown's office.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all. Not that Mexico is all that stable right now. But there are a number of other countries with much more favorable tax laws, less regulation, talented labor pools, stable governments, and lower costs all around. Democrats talk big about outsourcing when they are soliciting donations from labor unions but do nothing in reality to keep jobs in America.
