"Your Cell Phone Law Sucks" (CA State Senator Simitian Targeted on Billboard Over Law)
NBC11 ^ | Tue, Feb 10, 2009

This billboard is catching people's attention as they drive on 101.

California Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, is the target of a billboard advertisement attracting attention alongside Highway 101 in Palo Alto.

Grant Paulson of Pleasanton spent $10,000 to post a verbose message to Simitian, criticizing him for his efforts to pass a cell phone ban for California drivers.

"Your Cell Phone Law Sucks," the message reads. "Amazing how one man's bad idea can screw over and inconvenience millions of people in California."

Some drivers have complained that the sign has caused them to nearly get into accidents because of their attempts to read all the verbage that is posted.

The Daily Post of Palo Alto reports that Simitian thought the advertisement was "a hoot" although he was concerned someone might get "rear-ended" trying to read it.

Paulson said he hopes the issue makes it back onto the statewide ballot in the form of a referendum by the end of this or next year.

The advertisement is suppose to be removed by the end of February, but Paulson said he may post it again sometime this year.

Someone or some people should do the same thing somewhere along the beltway around D.C. concerning Obambi’s socialist spending bill.

California Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, is the latest leftist moron to be imposed upon California citizens from the cesspool that has grown up around me.

I again apologize to all FReepers and hope to run into Joe someday, in or out of a crosswalk.

Well, not passing judgment on the merits of the matter the sign is way too wordy and confusing to be effective. If the road it’s on has any sort of traffic flow at all you wouldn’t have time to read the entire message.

They are complaining about their own poor driving habits? To whom are they complaining?

Really?  Then we should outlaw billboards.  Moron!

Hey old joke

Q:  Dude, didn't you see that stop sign?

A:  Don't be stupid, it is against the law to read and drive.

I would donate money to anyone who would organize a billboard saying something about the Stimulus package as a waste of money..

I assure you, there are certain times of the day when you'd have time to read and re-read the message to your heart's content.

Not on the beltway, on various rooftops facing up.

The elites fly over DC, they never get on the beltway.

Who would have thought they’d invent a pacifier you stick in your ear?

Here in Colorado I see people driving under the speed limit in the left lane of the highway. Approximately 90% of the time they are busy talking on their cell phone usually in an over sized vehicle.

That’s true. But give those same people a headphone and they’ll do the exact same thing (they can’t walk and chew gum at the same time).

The issue is not having a phone in your hand — it is that some people cannot drive and carry on a phone discussion at the same time.

The new law, banning hand-held phones, was not required and punished millions of people who do not have that problem. Those drivers you speak of were already in violation of law (i.e. driving too slow, unsafe practices, etc.)
