I shop at Walmart once a week. They have the lowest priced wild bird seed around.

I posted about this earlier. A friend of my oldest daughter was laid off early last week. They called her in to "talk about her schedule." The one she was no longer on. She and eight others.

The 10% discount card at Walmart is the equivalent of a Sam’s Club card (same company) for most products. Except the Sam’s Club card costs $50 a year.

Curious...... what is the 10% discount card? any info would be appreciated..

“Just think, tens of thousands of American jobs eliminated and they won’t be going to China!”

The jobs created out of that deal would be in making the machinery to automate their processes, and in manufacturing of the RFID tags. In both instances I’d wager that those jobs will be in China, although I doubt RFID tagging will be the way they will go.

Our local supermarkets here have mostly eliminated the checkout clerks with automated systems. You scan the barcode on a laser scanner just like the regular checkouts used to. You pack your bags, then you swipe your card. They have one checkout clerk per 4 - 6 self-serve checkouts there to assist people as needed.

“And that probably doesn’t include their drivers, their Sam’s Club associates, nor their wholly-owned subsidiaries such as McLeans, their pre-packaged food-products wholesaler.”

Damn. I love this country. To be able to produce all of that? Damn.

Employee discount card.

Thanks... So it’s not available to the general public like the Sam’s card is at a price.

Terrible, terrible. Basically means I won’t be able to find a Walmart associate to provide me assistance should I need it.

Just employees and their immediate families and it is no good for most food purchases. Generally it can be used on anything in a general merchandice store (as opposed to a super center)

From Thanksgiving of last year until Jan 1st this year it could be used on all purchases. (That was the Christmas bonus).

Who can blame them? It keeps costs down which means we all can buy at a lower cost. If a business can use a machine to do the work of a person, it’s prudent business. You don’t have the government telling you that you have to pay them so much, pay unemployment, regulate hours, breaks, sick leave, vacations, etc.

Man, I need to read the story before I post again. ;->

I can't tell you how many times I've done the same thing. No problem.
