HEALTH BOARDS IN THE SPENDING BILL NOT JUST ABOUT SENIORS!
Canada Free Press ^ | Vanity

Posted on 02/10/2009 8:48:30 AM PST by Til I am the last man standing

There are a lot of good threads about this topic (see below) and I wouldn't want to step on their great comments, but this is not just about seniors. This is about every person of any age with a life threatening illness. If you are a thirty year old woman and you develop a non-chemo sensitive tumor and have the genes that predispose you to breast cancer your life expectancy with treatment is only about 30% over 5 years. YOU WOULDN’T QUALIFY FOR TREATMENT BECAUSE OF THE COST VS LIFE EXPECTANCY RATIO THE BOARD WILL USE. And who is going to set that ratio? Is congress going to meddle in like they are meddling in every other aspect of our life? Will they have the power to raise or lower it? THIS IS ABOUT EVERYONE OF US NOT JUST SENIORS!! IT IS FOR ANY TREATMENT AT ANY AGE! Do not ignore the potential for the government to reach into our health care decisions for ourselves and...our...children.THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT SENIORS

Teddy is a politician, they have their own separate health care insurance. The elite take care of themselves.

It wasn't just that he had separate insurance, it was his NAME, as you say, the elite. At the very time he was diagnosed with brain cancer and within two weeks, he's down at Duke having top neurosurgeons working on him, I was waiting for brain surgery that was ten years delayed, in part due to docs ignoring obvious symptoms my body demonstrated, I was finally referred to a special institution in NY in March, '06 ... but because my surname was NOT Kennedy, I was put at the end of the line, did not get in until August. I am suffering permanent damage in my left arm that may not have occurred had I been allowed to have the surgery in March.

I don't ever want to hear how difficult it is for Kennedy, he has NO idea, NONE.

I’ve been thinking about the threat to disabled children.

My friend had a child who developed CP from a genetic disorder. She had food allergies galore and the only thing she could keep down was a prescription formula called Tolerex (to the tune of $800/mo) The insurance company fought her tooth and nail... and in the meantime she had to cash in all her savings and retirement to keep the kid alive.

The insurance determined: 1)the prescription was a food formula 2)the prognosis of 2-3 years wasn't worth it.

She finally got it resolved 18mo later...but was never reimbursed the money she spent out of pocket. The child lived to 9 years of age. If the insurance company had their way.... she'd have stayed at the 2-3yr prognosis.

My son is a Type 1 diabetic and I am VERY worried for his future.

Last weekend I told him that it was time to get more serious than ever about his education. Math, math and MORE MATH. He has to study his butt off to be a worthwhile member of society in liberals’ eyes.

Before that, he wanted to get into the oil industry. Now that’s simply laughable.

Maybe this portends the end to treating gays with HIV. Since it may be prohibitively expensive to keep treating people with HIV, the government may simply decide that they should just get full blown AIDS and die.

Doesn’t Teddy K have a “hopeless diagnosis”?

We all do......starting the day we're born. He just believes he's more worthwhile. Ever played "lifeboat"? That's where we're headed...

Well now, that is why we must have gay marriage, then they will for sure be monogamous and never get aids. /sarcasm

I just read about some other bad news that is included in the Pelosi version of the bill. She is ending Cliniton’s welfare reform, returning to open ended benefits with no work requirements. She wants to create ghettos, like in Paris, where the out of work “youths” burn cars for entertainment.

ROFLOL! They are a protected group just like illegals. Nothing is too good or to expensive for them.

The Nazis thought in the same terms. I remember seeing posters where they showed the feable and infirm versus the cost to care for them.

Oops.... "point being"... if the insurance companies have non-medical entities "deciding" whether you're worth the treatment or not......just imagine what gov't will do.

Ugh...home sick today....should not post to boards... :)
