My sister was born in Denmark but our parents are US citizens. My sister had dual citizenship until she turned 18, at which time her Danish citizenship was extinguished. Except for her birth and shortly thereafter, she has never been to Denmark, doesn’t speak Danish, has no interest in Denmark, and has no desire to go there on vacation, and has no loyalties to Denmark. She is a US citizen, period.
Yes, you are correct.
That same situation applies to me.
However, even if your sister would apply for a Danish Passport, she would in no way harm her status as a Natural Born Citizen.
Yes, your sister is a US citizen. McCain is also a US citizen but he is not a “natural born” citizen because he was not born on US soil. Obama is a US citizen if he was born in Hawaii or anywhere on US soil. But he is not a “natural born” citizen because his father was not a US citizen. Your sister is a US citizen but would not be considered a “natural born” US citizen because she was not born on US soil.
Yes your sister is an American Citizen, but since she was born outside of the US she most likely would not be considered a “Natural born Citizen”. Article II section I of the Constitution: “No person except a natural born Citizen,....shall be eligible to the office of President”. March 4,1789, goes into effect. At that time in history it was well known to mean: a citizen born on the soil to citizen parents. It needs to be debated in the Supreme Court. Except for Chester Arthur no other President was not a NBC & at the time they did not know that C.A. wasn’t. There are a lot of sites that will define NBC.
