Pity poor Joe Biden. His "there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong" quote is put straight to President Barack Obama during the White House press conference just now and his boss seemed to want to say: "Vice-President Who?"
As reporters started giggling, Obama came close to conceding that Biden was indeed a joke. "You know, I don't remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly."
The President went on to say that "I think what Joe may have been suggesting, although I wouldn't ascribe any numerical percentage to any of this, is that given the magnitude of the challenges that we have, any single thing that we do is going to be part of the solution, not all of the solution."
Of course, Biden wasn't saying anything of the sort - Obama knew that and all the rest of us did too.
Biden's exact quote, read out by Fox's Major Garrett at the presser was: "If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, if we stand up there and we really make the tough decisions, there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong."
Clearly, Obama and his aides were unhappy about Biden's loose lips. On Friday, top Obama adviser David Axelrod said on CNN: "I don't know exactly about what that math was."
We're probably going to have to get used to Obama explaining "what Joe may have been suggesting". And Biden must be wondering if he's going to end up as a Dan Quayle figure.

Classy move, Mr. President! [/sarc]
President Who?
“..smarter than the quisling.”
You mean the Kenyan Konnektion.
Hey, I’d MUCH rather watch a Joe Biden press conference than an Obama press conference. At least Joe is entertaining. Obama is just boring.
Pissant, quit copying me.
Not surprisingly? But you picked him. You didn't realize before he was a buffoon? Don't tell us you picked Slow Joe Biden for comic relief or just to make you look smart.
Sir Joe the Dull will be doing KP at the next King 0’s cocktail gathering
>> And Biden must be wondering if he’s going to end up as a Dan Quayle figure.
Biden should only hope.
There’s a big difference between Quayle and Biden. The press concentrated on making Quayle look like a buffoon; the reality is, he’s a bright guy.
On the other hand, the press don’t have to “help” Joe look stupid; he’s a box of rocks at the core. Mouth works ok though.
Obama should be making fun of himself for being such a DS for picking Biden.
Good. Need to push him in and start shoveling.
I thought Sweet Caroline picked Sir Joe the Dull
Hey Joe, I think there is room between the tailpipe and Obama’s grandma.
Do the math. There is a 50% chance that, just by blind luck or the toss of a coin, whatever O'biden will choose to do will be the right thing in any binary situation.
It's simple. If they just depend on plain dumb luck, they're going to get it right 50% of the time (Forget for a moment that in that case, 50% of the time they are going to get it wrong, people will die, economies will be destroyed... just go with the math here.)
So O'biden want to reduce their acceptable passing grade to 70%, (100% total - the 30% Biden admits they will get wrong = 70%.)
So they get 70% right... but that's only 20% above the 50/50 chance they had going in!
In other words, Biden wants to make the right choice 20% of the time.... and wants us to applaud him for it!
The inmates are running the asylum!
It’s Joe the Dumber...
Biden’s a re-re. I have little doubt Obama understands Porkulus is lousy for the economy. He knows it’ll buy party loyalty and is counting on voters thinking (if that’s the word) “Hey, at least the Democrats care and are trying!” The New Deal didn’t work, either, but it worked for FDR.
