MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Security officers arrested a young Somali man attempting to board a Dubai-bound plane in November in the capital Mogadishu with a suspicious white powder, liquid and syringes, Somali officials said on Wednesday.

The Sunday incident on another Amsterdam to Detroit flight was caused by a "sick passenger," and is not so far being treated as an attempted terrorist attack, according to a U.S. national security official.

However, another senior US official said that there were suspicious aspects to the incident, in that the passenger in question reportedly spent a very long time in an airplane lavatory. News reports say the passenger in question is now being detained by US authorities
