Guantanamo detainees say they planned Sept. 11: report
The five detainees at the U.S. Guantanamo Bay prison camp charged with plotting the September 11 attacks have filed a document expressing pride at their accomplishment and accepting responsibility for the deaths of nearly 3,000 people, The New York Times reported on Monday.
The document, which the newspaper said may be released publicly on Tuesday, describes the five men as the “9/11 Shura Council,” and says their actions were an offering to God, according to excerpts of the document read to a reporter by an unidentified government official, the report said.
“’To us,’ the official read, ‘they are not accusations. To us they are a badge of honor, which we carry with honor,’” the paper said......
Pentagon Transfers Al-Marri Into Custody of US Marshalls

Suspected Al Qaeda sleeper agent Ali Saleh Kahlah Al-Marri was transferred from Pentagon custody into that of the U.S Marshalls.
This morning Al-Marri was served with an arrest warrant this morning at the Naval Consolidated Brig in Charleston, SC. At 10 am this morning, he will make his first appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert S. Carr in federal court in response to the two-count indictment charging al-Marri with providing material support to al-Qaeda and conspiring with others to do the same.
Arrested in Peoria, Ill., in December 2001, Al-Marri — a native of Qatar — has been held as an “enemy combatant” in solitary confinement in that Navy brig since June 2003. Until the end of February, no charges had been brought against him.....

Brooklyn: Muslim enters synagogue and starts proclaiming jihad

(IsraelNN.com) For the second time in less than a week, a packed Brooklyn, New York, synagogue has been the target of threats of violence by intruders.
On Monday, according to Yeshiva World News, an Arab man in his mid-30s entered Boro Park’s ‘Sephardish Shul’ and began making proclamations of jihad. Members of a Jewish volunteer security organization, the Shomrim, apprehended the threatening individual. They held him until police officers arrived at the scene, arresting the suspect. Detectives spoke with the “Middle Eastern man” at a station house near the synagogue....

Dozens Dead In Suicide Attack On Iraqi Leaders
A suicide bomber struck tribal leaders touring a market in a Sunni area west of Baghdad on Tuesday, killing as many as 33 people in the second major attack in the capital area in two days.
The bombing was part of a spike of violence that comes as the U.S. military begins drawing down its forces.....

A federal agent says a Russellville doctor accused of stockpiling fully automatic machine guns and grenades has a father who is an International Arms Dealer.
David Oliver, a special agent for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, testified at a bond hearing Tuesday in Federal Court at Little Rock for Dr. Randeep Mann. The doctor, who lives in the small town of London west of Russellville, is charged in Federal Court with possessing unregistered machine guns and illegally possessing military grenades that can be fired from a rifle-mounted launcher....

Narcotics traffickers threaten Mexico and U.S.
Largely invisible to most Americans, just to the south, the security situation is worsening as a result of an intense conflict between the Mexican government and domestic drug cartels — and even among the narco-gangs themselves.
Some observers have characterized the fighting in Mexico as a low-grade civil war. Worse yet, by many estimates, the violence is escalating — and getting increasingly grisly. For instance, in January, Mexican authorities arrested a man accused of dissolving as many as 300 bodies in bubbling vats of acid for a Tijuana-based drug lord, earning him the nightmarish nickname “El Pozolero,” after a local stew.
The same week, Mexican prosecutors reported three severed heads found in an ice box. A headless body was also discovered in a canal in Ciudad Juarez, a town known as Mexico’s deadliest — just over the border from El Paso, Texas. Last year, the drug war in Mexico consumed nearly 6,000 lives — double the number in 2007.....
