Rome, Italy -- After an international debate over whether she should be subjected to a painful starvation and dehydration death, Eluana Englaro has died. The disabled woman had been in a minimally conscious state since 1992, when she was involved in an automobile accident.

Yes, I know that it’s horrible to suffer dehydration and starvation when fully awake and aware. What is needed is an account by someone who experienced these things in a vegetative state and then regained consciousness. One reason people gave for opposing the withdrawal of water and food from Eluana Englaro was because she might have regained consciousness, right? So that must have happened in the past, or there wouldn’t be reason for hope. What do people say about the period when they were in a vegetative state?
People have said its like being in a nightmare..they are fully aware of what’s going on but often can’t communicate what they’re feeling..I’ll dig up some articles on the subject..
