Group Seeks Ouster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2010
A newNevada-based organization, Independent Nevadans for Change, officially launched today its political effort to defeat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) in 2010 with the release of its new website: DumpReid.com.
"Democrats, Republicans and independent voters don't often agree on much," said longtime political activist Chuck Muth, director of the Dump Reid project, "but a growing number from all philosophical walks of life agree that it's time to changeNevada's senior U.S. senator."
Independent Nevadans for Change is an IRS 527 organization which will use the Internet to recruit opposition and raise money for TV, radio, direct mail and other traditional campaign activities for the 2010 campaign.
The DumpReid.com website and blog was developed by Eric Odom, a web strategist and online social media expert with deepNevada roots. Odom notes that many on the left are just as dissatisfied with Harry Reid as those on the right.
Muth said he welcomes out-of-state efforts to oust Reid next year, but added, "We Nevadans know Harry Reid. We know the players. We know the issues. We know the electorate. And while voters around the nation understandably want to dump Harry Reid, it ultimately will have to be done by Nevadans themselves. That's why I established this in-state group dedicated to 'daschling' Harry Reid next year."
That's a reference to the 2004 defeat of then-Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota).
"Dumping Harry Reid won't be easy," concluded Muth, "but to borrow a phrase: 'Yes We Can!'"

The Second powerful action you can take is go to 10 senators websites and make clear, once again, that you do not want this bill to pass and you strongly urge the senator to vote no.
The 3 senators you absolutely must contact are the RINO’s. Make sure you call Senator Snowe of Maine. She thinks she is a movie star and made the rounds on TV and other news organizations this weekend. She looked very proud and had the biggest smile. With enough calls you can get her to change her mind.

Senator Reid,
I am one of the, soon to be, displaced workers at the Yucca Mountain Project. I am also a constituent to which you have the audacity to espouse your intent to help. Help gain new employment by your insulting statement to go to your site and see the link for the Unemployment office and DERT. I seriously doubt ANY of the people working to retrain displaced workers have half the knowledge required to train geologists, engineers, scientists, and even our administrative assistants. They are going to be retrained to do what? Work in a casino, flip burgers, or perform housekeeping (all at minimum wage)? That is if any positions are even available! I would love to see you in that position! Many will lose their homes and cars; choose between paying their bills or feeding their families; file for bankruptcy. It is truly an embarrassment to have to apply for Unemployment, but I will have to do so thanks to your political, misleading campaign to destroy the REPOSITORY (not dump as you so lovingly call it).
You, sir, are not doing ANY favors for the state of Nevada, the United States of America or the world by continuing your vendetta against the Yucca Repository. Leaving high level waste (HLW) and spent nuclear fuel (SNL) lying about our country, open to easy terrorist attacks, is a thousand times more dangerous and terrifying than having a repository that can store the waste until such time that science can economically find a means to recycle and reuse it. When, at that time, it can be brought out of the repository and offer us inexpensive energy that can be sold on the open market and benefit the state of Nevada. I am more scared by the chlorine and other dangerous chemicals that are transported across our country on a daily basis than I am by the HLW and SNL. On the other hand, it is most helpful to reassign those funds to your wind farm or whatever pipe dream you may have for using them.
I am disgusted by the lies you continue to promote to the media and fear mongering you use to gain votes from the people of Nevada. You have chosen to make your path one of a “servant” to the people of Nevada (I use the term loosely) and NOT that of a scientist. Let the NRC review and decide upon the validity, safety and correctness of the Licensing Agreement (LA). But, of course, you are whittling away at their budget also.
Harry Reid, you are no friend to the state of Nevada and I will be the first in line to start the campaign against your reelection!
