McCain: Stimulus 'a setback to change' ["I thought we were going to have change"]
Politico ^ | Josh Kraushaar

Posted on 02/08/2009 11:43:05 AM PST by rabscuttle385

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said on Sunday he'll vote against President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill, calling the legislation “generational theft” in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

I thought we were going to have change," he said, in a shot at Obama's campaign slogan, "and that change meant we work together. This is a setback. This is a setback to all Americans because you promised Americans we’d work in a more bipartisan fashion, and that certainly is not the case in this bill,” McCain said.

McCain said the bill would saddle Americans with billions in future debt, and contained protectionist provisions that could be damaging to the economy.

“We’re going to amass the largest debt in the history of this country by any measurement, and we’re going to ask our kids and grandkids to pay for it,” McCain said.

“I know we’re in trouble. I know America needs a stimulus, we need tax cuts, we need to spend money on infrastructure and other programs that will put people to work. But this is not it.”

You post a photo of 2 debaters greeting each other and that’s supposed to “prove” that McCain didn’t talk tax cuts and spending?

You helped defeat him in the election, and got something far worse. You proud?

I don't know about rabs, but I sure as hell am. And I will be here next time around too. If the Republicans care to raise up socialists, I will oppose them forever.

At least the Democrats are selling their bag of crap as crap- The Republicans are selling their 3/4ths of a bag of crap as conservatism.

If you want Conservative votes, try sending us Conservatives to vote for. It will work every time.

The message being delivered by McCain on this regardless of what one thinks of McCain is the following.

The more you divert the attention away from that McCain quote with your thumb-sucking, cry baby type posts, the more that message gets covered up.

Obama will thank you for it.

I'm proud that I voted against both of the Socialists on the ballot.

The message being delivered by McCain on this regardless of what one thinks of McCain is the following.

John "I'm suspending my campaign to vote for the bailout" McCain has zero credibility on the porkulus bill. If this message had been publicly delivered by Sanford, or DeMint, or Bachmann, or Paul, or Inhofe, or Pence, or...even Palin, then yes, it would have credibility, but from McCain? LOL. That's worth a good laugh.

Bush and McCain opened the doors to Socialism by pulling off that bailout stunt last year, among other things. And, they tied our hands by redefining conservatism in terms of Big Government and nanny statism; now, all the Democrats have to do is lead us through the door and into the abyss.

The more you divert the attention away from that McCain quote with your thumb-sucking, cry baby type posts, the more that message gets covered up.

If you're too scared to see the truth—that McCain is an idiot who prematurely surrendered to Obama, in hopes of getting his own personal "bipartisan" agenda accomplished—that's not my problem. That's your problem.

Ugh. McCain would never have increaed funds for abortion.

It's because of people like you that more babies will now die overseas and be killed in the name of stem cell research.

Not me. Sorry but this nation needs to hit rock bottom first. With McCain in the WH, the slide towards socialism would have continued. Now at least people see what's happening.

Agreed. When the country is going over a cliff, it's better to have the Dims in charge and at the wheel. Now, we just need the Pubbies to man up and start 'splaining how their methods are better (eg-extend tax cuts, get rid of the death tax...whatever) Kudos again to the House for voting against the pork package.

Gridlock, our only hope...

Congrats to both of you on helping to give us Odooma. May you rot together.

The longer that the GOP continues its strategy of blaming the voter for its own collective incompetence, the longer it will spend in the political wilderness.

It's not our fault that we didn't want to partake in the watered-down Socialism that is twenty-first century conservatism.

What's your point?

You (and all of us) are screwed either way. McCain lets in illegal alien criminals. Obama ramps up funding for abortion. And, with the political elite of both parties in charge, America goes to hell in a handbasket.

OK MCLAME, if that be the case, if socialism is so evil, if conservatism is so right, why in the hell didn’t you let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin? To me, McLame is nothing more than a soft-core commie calling the hardcore commies too extreme. WHAT A MORON!!! TOO LITTLE TOO LATE IDIOT!!!

But it is your fault that you can't tell the difference between Odooma and McCain.

Get your head out of your rear end and realize you're not helping anyone with your assinine little truthfile posts, and your petulant rants, when in fact McCain said something right here. You're so obsessesed with putting him down you can't even hear when he says something right.

and Obama is president because jackasses like yourself wouldn't vote Republican.

I vote for conservatives, not Big Government Republicans.

Wait...you're going for an IT degree. Forget I mentioned it.

It's a Computer Science degree, not an IT degree.

I don't particularly like McCain, but this time around he was simply over the hill and clueless.

I don't think he was ever that smart, but this time he was both foolish and senile.
