Mann-made science does not support the hypothesis that global warming is man-made
A good scientist, like a good journalist, checks his facts, if for no other reason than to spare himself embarrassment and to immunize himself from charges that hes casual with the truth, lazy or just plain dishonest. Michael Mann has not checked his facts.
Manns article has two main thrusts. First, he attempts to discredit me and others who have criticized his work. Then, he attempts to defend his reputation by claims that distinguished authorities, especially the National Academy of Sciences, have endorsed his hockey stick graph. His graph is an icon in the global warming debate: It convinced the press and the public that 1998 was the hottest year of the hottest decade of the hottest century of the last 1,000 years, creating the belief that Earth was changing dangerously for the worse.Let me deal in chronological order with Manns attempts to discredit those he perceives to be his critics.
Mann calls the National Post a tabloid, presumably because tabloids have a reputation for sensationalism. The Post is not a tabloid; it is a broadsheet, and a fine one at that, considered by many to be Canadas best newspaper.
Mann claims I am funded by the fossil-fuel industry. I am not and neither is Energy Probe Research Foundation, the federally registered charitable organization that I helped found in 1980 and that I have represented continually since. There is a good reason the energy industry does not fund Energy Probe: Over the decades, Energy Probe has been Canadas chief critic of the energy industry, more responsible than any other organization for stopping ill-advised energy pipelines, coal plants, tar sands projects, nuclear plants and large hydro dams.

Global Warming has poisoned my view of scientists. Nothing but a bunch of liars
Yes, they ARE! (oops, I just had to lie...I'm a scientist, you see.)
Well, shucks, I was hearing about all the scientists who didn't believe Mann's graph, but maybe you're right...maybe there aren't any who question it.

D*mn liars!
Hey Steely. Hope you are having a nice weekend.
There are some 30,000 scientists who signed a petition objecting to the “consensus” of AGW. I am one of them.
Who the hell do you think are doing the debunking??? Politicians??? Lawyers???
Guess what, the debunkers are scientists, too. And some heavy hitters, at that.
While very few scientists are directly responsible for perpetuating global warming hysteria, you have put your finger on an important aspect of this fiasco: it will serve to discredit the scientific view of modern problems, and will squander much of the credibility that a reasoned approach to problem-solving through science that has been built up over time.
As others have mentioned here, large numbers of scientists have disputed the conclusions of the alarmists (over 30,000 US scientists have signed the Oregon Declaration casting doubt on the acceptance of man-made global warming), but the mindless harping on some imaginary “scientific concensus” by idiot politicians and retarded reporters will serve to destroy scientific credibility among the general population, leaving them prey to those who can manipulate their feelings (see: present administration and lackeys thereof).

You are in good company. Click on my homepage and thank you.
Many are. But for every psychopath like Mann there are honest ethical and meticulous scientists working hard to bring in the data and the facts that eventually will discredit this AGW hoax.
Yet it is prudent to consider the source these days. The impartiality of "science" can no longer be assumed. When you see a report attributed to some scientist, it is instructive to google him and see where he fits in the game. It usually is not difficult to discern whom to trust and whom to disregard.
