To: Uncle Miltie

I love a proposal to suspend tax withholding for a quarter, then review and continue or stop. People would get money right away and then 1) spend them, boosting sales, etc or 2) put them into savings or buying stocks - boosting banks and financial markets.

Can’t be easier than that. Can’t be more expensive for the government than borrowing 1 TRILLION !!! dollars.

I’m in favor of anything that de-funds the beast. So I’d take your proposal in a heart beat!

I love it also. Allowing the people to see their paychecks without any deductions would be the death of our tax system and with it the power of our politicians.

That is why it is unlikely to ever happen.

Milton Friedman regrets the day he gave government the idea to do this.
