Snubbing Zinni [Zero and Biden throw Gen. Zinni under the bus]
Politico ^

Posted on 02/05/2009 10:12:34 PM PST by indcons

Laura Rozen's The Washington Times' extraordinary report on just how badly Gen. Anthony Zinni feels he was treated by the Obama team is a mark of, above all, how close the foreign policy appointments -- hashed out between Clinton and Obama teams -- are being held. The upside of this, in theory, is relatively few leaks. The downside is lots of stress and uncertainty.

And Zinni's not the only one in the dark. Former Ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer, a major Obama backer and key surrogate on the campaign, is, last I heard, back at Princeton and telling friends he has no idea what, if anything, he'll be doing in the administration.

From the report: When retired Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni told the Washington Times today that he was offered the job of U.S. ambassador to Iraq before being passed over in favor of diplomat Christopher Hill, he did not say that one of the outrages of the experience was that his friend of 30 years, fellow former Marine Corps commandant and now national security advisor James L. Jones had offered him the job, and then failed to tell him when the decision was changed.

-- snip --

"The vice president* called and congratulated me," Zinni said.

*The original item was corrected to indicate that Biden, not Obama, allegedly called Zinni to congratulate him.

Maybe Zinni will shut-up now.

Sold his soul to the Devil and didn’t even get a reach around for his efforts.

Zinni’s payoffs come from Obama’s managers, not Obama himself.

This will go down as the fastest collapse of an administration in history. I’ve never seen anyone lose so much respect from so many people for so many reasons in such a short time. The unraveling is becoming a prairie fire.

Zinni was the CENTCOM Chief who pushed for the USS COLE visit to Aden, in 1998, despite the Ambassador's statement that the threat was too high.

Zinni was pushing for greater influence in the region, was backed by the Terrorist Czar Richard Clarke and ok’d by President Clinton.

I have NO RESPECT FOR ZINNI.

Read the Democrats comments to this article and weep. They are stupider than I ever thought, and I thought very hard.

Half of them can’t even write a proper and complete sentence. They should lay off the booze and can advise on that from Ted Kennedy.

Good. Let ‘em all get burned. Don’t feel sorry for any of them. They pushed and applauded and praised this inexperienced thug. Let ‘em reap the consequences.

Anyone who supported Hussein will, in the end, be screwed over by him—simply because of his idiotic plans for the country.

Tony Zinni's a sharp, brave guy but he doesn't seem to have understood the basic truth about Democrats: they don't have any integrity or loyalty. He has burned his bridges with the Republicans, so he and Colin Powell will have a lot to talk about and a lot of time to do it.
