Daley refuses to release stimulus project list
Chicago Tribune ^

Posted on 02/05/2009 11:23:40 AM PST by texrepub76

Mayor Richard Daley said today Chicago has compiled a wish list of "shovel-ready projects" to spend federal economic stimulus funds on should Congress approve a plan. Unlike hundreds of other cities, however, Daley said Chicago won't make its list public. "Yes, we do, we have our list, we've been talking to people. We did not put that out publicly because once you start putting it out publicly, you know, the newspapers, the media is going to be ripping it apart," Daley said. "It's very controversial. Yes, we have ready projects from the Board of Education to the City Colleges to the Park District to the CTA and the city of Chicago. Oh yes. Us and New York decided not to do that. We thought we could go directly into the federal bureaucracies and the different departments," the mayor added. Later, Daley was asked why he wasn't being more transparent. "Read some of your newspapers. Heh heh," he replied.

Daley and all the ward bosses still have to run this through their personal "bidding process" to see which projects are the "most shovel ready" [ Chicago wink ].

Uh...I’d be very leery of what Daley and his thugs mean by “shovel ready.”

Just bring a bag full of money if you want to be "involved".

Unbelievable! I guess the Chicago Thug bosses need time to settle the ‘pay for play’ games. Probably some money going to AYERS and WRIGHT and all of the ole Obama thug gang.

Obama can’t let the American people know about that pay to play part of his bill!

Obama’s been swimming in that pool for decades and didn’t get any of their sh** in his hair? Right......

I've had screaming matches with YouTube idiots about this. They honestly think Obama is clean and untouched by scandal. Good Lord, are people really that dumbed down?

...a wish list of "shovel-ready projects"...

Don't they realize that the Left wants them all to be slaves? And I mean really slaves, as in their lives are completely owned by the Masters in Charge?

Obama announced a prime time presser for Monday night. His hypnotic spell is wearing off on the collective, so he feels we need a fresh dose of Obamanosis.

oh joy....lol

It’s Chicago...why should anyone be surprised? These thugs were the instructors for the One. He learned his lessons well, I’d say.

This is another reason to kill of this LibTard spend-a-thon.

What is this, day 17? This like watching a disaster in slow motion.

A nationally televised prime-time presser? Heil, 0!

Oh sure, out of all the politicians in over a century of infamously corrupt Chicago machine politics, after all of the compromises he had to have made just to be able to get a seat at the table there, and with all of the associations and dealings with crooks, thugs, and traitors he has had (just the ones we know about), Obama's somehow the only person to have miraculously emerged pristine from the crookedest city in America? Why sure.... I can believe that!!

It boggles the mind that anyone, let alone millions (including half of my own family) could ever fall for that. The reason the Democratic radicals (I won't call them liberals anymore, they are too radical for that) defend their icons with such white hot fury is because admitting their idols are corrupt means confronting their own misguided beliefs. That's very hard for even normal people to do, let alone for the kinds of disaffected losers that are drawn to "Liberal" politicians and their messages. I'm not sure if falling for an idol makes people that way, or if people who are like that just tend to fall for tarnished idols (I think it's probably a combination of both), but it all adds up to politics based on "fan" mentality rather than constituency.

I think that Conservative politics tend to be more based on principles, and therefore when the people we select to represent those principles betray them, we can more easily cast them overboard. Our belief is not in the person, but in the ideal. Democrats are just a bunch of mindless groupies.

"...a wish list of "shovel-ready projects"...

That's all this "Stimulus Package" is. It's a pent-up wish list of every liberal's half-baked wet dreams, and they've been storing it up for decades. They are like Seven-Year Locusts that have been lying dormant underground and have just emerged from their larval state. They are just stretching their wings now. Once they get their legs, they're going to consume everything in their path unless we spray 'em down with pork repellent.
