This morning, radio host Bill Press brought up the recent closing of liberal station Obama 1260 when speaking with Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, and talked about whether there needs to be a balance to right wing talk on the radio dial.
BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean look: They have a right to say that. They’ve got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?
SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else – I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.
BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?
SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep.
Although Obama has been publicly opposed to reinstating the fairness doctrine, conservative radio has talked non-stop about the fear of it returning (or perhaps something like it with another name) while there's a Democrat in the White House and a Democratic majority in Congress.
Congress critter ping!
If this happens, I want Rush Limbaugh with his own show on NPR.
I am hoping the Democrats ‘go there’ folks. Lets have these hearings. Lets show every single American exactly who these Democrats really are.
Its one of the best issues for 2010 we can get, courtesy of idiots like Stabenow
Little Debbie Slabofcow is quite likely the dumbest person in congress!
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Scariest statement since Pelosi tried to explain the porkulus bill.
“I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.”

LMAO! Yeah, right.
“But, they should not be the only voices heard.”
And they are not, end of problem!
The issue is instead that people choose who they listen to, and they listen to the “wrong people” consistently.
You can’t blanket a nation with a single concept set if there are alternatives, also called choice.
She needs to go home and “take care” of her husband...if you know what I mean.
Try to take that away from us and, far as I am concerned, CW-II is on.
Let the Left find some people with brains and class and who know how to do quality radio and their voices will be heard. I attempted to listen to Air America a couple of times. Politics aside, it was dreadful radio. Just unlistenable. If I were a liberal, I would be embarrassed by it.
As hard as it might be to get this through a statist's skull, it's the market that determines what broadcasts stay on the air. They need to go out there with better people and try to compete in it.
To hell with censorship.
hey Sen. Debbie, BRING IT ON!!!
No visuals, please! I don't know how long they've been married, but I get the feeling he's grown tired of her s**t.
I sent the link to the Politico article to Paul W. Smith at WJR. Stabenow will be on the hot seat VERY soon because of this.
Actually she is a Senator. That is even more scary. I listened to her get taken apart by Paul W. Smith on WJR about a year ago. This is the same woman who’s husband got caught getting a BJ from a hooker.
Gee, I WONDER why!!
