The Controllers were calm and professional because we are trained extensively to be that way. Needless to say the departure controller will relive this in his dreams for the rest of his life. I know fellow controllers where things didn't go as well. They will relive this also. They did everything they could but everyone still died. This is a prime example the of real, and sometimes debilitating, stress involved on both the pilots and controllers. Their careers can be shortened from events such as this and here is another reason for the pay they receive. Oh, by the way were hiring...
