I laugh when they say that Alaska won’t produce anything for 10 years...

Is it a bitter, clinging laugh? And grinding, as in grinding teeth?

Arghhhh!!!

There are a lot of states that might not mind being “cancelled” at this point.

I drove through this area last summer. Pristine is an interesting choice to describe the region. Its a pretty desolate area especially near Dinosaur. There did seem to be a lot of oil/gas rigs outside of the park areas in operation.

Aside from the oil/gas I didn't see very many if any industries in the region.

With oil prices as low as they are the oil companies won't be concerned at this point about these leases. After this recession fades we're going to need this oil though when China starts sucking up the global supply again.

"Salazar’s decision – is one of a series of steps that the administration and congressional Democrats are planning to take to reshape federal regulation of drilling, mining, lumbering and other resource tapping activities, both on American soil and offshore."

It's a series of lies Democrats always tell at election times that they never had any intention of following through on.

Nothing suprising here.
It's all part of the plan to drag this nation into third world poverty.

But look on the bright side. We can't afford to pay the UN fee's this year, nor supply all the billions of foriegn aid that we do every year.

Oh don't think that we won't deliver those checks, it's just they won't be worth the paper they are written on when our dollar starts trading two for one of Zimbabwe's.

"And what do your oil-industry-Freepers think about this particular land? Was it promising? Was it going to be profitable?

Maybe, maybe not, but it would have kept drilling companies busy, And maybe at least produced some natural gas wells to cover the costs, even if there wasn't enough crude found to be worth the bother.

Not yet! I’m gonna buy me one! They’re on Glenn Beck’s site. ;D

Just go buy a cheap T shirt at walMart and some Fellowes iron on transfer sheets and print your own. It's cheaper. Then you can sell a few to recover the initial costs.

"Let me see...Gas was approaching $5.00 a gallon then President Bush removed the restrictions then gas went to $1.59.
I guess this action will keep that low rate locked in until..... 1:30 this afternoon if we're lucky.

That's not what made gas prices fall. Demand has fallen drastically due to economic slowdown world wide. No amount of promised drilling would affect gas prices because first, any oil is at least ten years from reaching the market, secondly, the oil would just be added to opec production levels and other opec members would just reduce the amount of oil they pump to maintain those levels.

Know how the market works, and you'll avoid making silly statements. The only thing we loose out on is the royalties we would have gotten from the oil the companies pumping oil out of American reserves.

Just the tip of the iceberg. Scratch that, ALgore says there are none.

"Higher energy prices to follow. This guy is a fricking idiot. He may be the first president to get recalled."

If they do, it will be because of massive gas taxes.

Oil prices will not go up until economic activity goes up around the world, and supplies get tighter.

But I don't see economic activity improving anything soon, in fact economic activity is still dropping, and will continue to do so as long as "the one" is president (usurper)and driving the nation into a depression 10 times worse than the last one.

Be prepared, because when the worst happens, it will happen quickly and you won't be able to run around at the last minute trying to gather supplies like Americans are prone to do when a pending disaster like a hurricane is about to hit.

This is one storm the government will not announce prior warnings for people to prepare themselves.

“oil and gas leases cancelled in utah”

good. now we’ll maybe have higher gasoline prices, home heating prices, higher prices for things derived from petroleum....

but, it won’t matter to the commissars who just cancelled the leases. they’ll be all nice and warm in their bureaucratic nests of vipers, all molty and everything.

IMHO

Know how the market works, and you'll avoid making silly statements.

The market forces in place at the time were as much speculative as substantial. There is no doubt that investors were buying oil commodities with no intention other than holding them then selling them at a profit ASAP.

When President Bush announced removal of the drilling restrictions, the long term supply prospect ballooned and the speculators sold at any price they could get. Sure people used less oil but Saudi Arabia also increased production during that time.

Several respectable sources (Cavuto for example) had totally debunked the "New oil is ten years away" myth.

Hey, why should we pay our workers good wages to drill cleanly when we can get our oil by polluting African and South American ecosystems?
